Eliot Bronson - Even This Is Going To Pass (feat. Lori McKenna).

Eliot Bronson whose talents with "bluesy harmonies and a dark sense of humor create powerfully evocative folk songs" earned him the accolade of Best Songwriter by Creative Loafing, releases a powerful new song today. Bronson shares his new work "Even This Is Going To Pass," featuring beautiful harmonies from one of the most respected singer-songwriters, Grammy-winner Lori Mckenna. Proceeds from "Even This Is Going To Pass" will be donated to Feeding America in support of their incredible work year-round, and especially during the Covid-19 crisis.

The video was created by the visual artist Antje Duvekot using a beautiful handmade technique. Next month Eliot will share details on his upcoming album, which will be released this summer.

"Even This Is Going To Pass" was written a few weeks ago just after Bronson’s performance on the popular (now livestream) show Shut in and Sing. Bronson was struck by the realization of all that is going on right now and how it is affecting the people around him; quarantine, social distancing, layoffs, shutdowns, some folks completely cut off from friends and family. In this stressful time Bronson was inspired to give hope.

Hazel English - Wake Up / Born Like.

“Sometimes I feel like we’re just sleepwalking through our lives. We’re not really present.” Hazel English wants us to open our eyes. Through her shimmering, daydream-pop, the California based singer-songwriter is on a mission to rattle the cages of our very existence, asking us to dig deep and ask challenging questions of ourselves. ‘Wake UP!’, her debut album, is a call to arms: an attempt to “make people become more aware and mindful,” she says.

Since debuting with bittersweet single ‘Never Going Home’ in 2016, the Sydney-born artist has felt the urge to connect with her listeners in a meaningful way. Blending wistful, candid lyricism with jangling psych and beach-pop sounds, English’s compelling songwriting has earned her over 25 million streams, airplay on BBC Radio 1, 6Music and Beats, praise from Lauren Laverne and Annie Mac, and press acclaim with double EP ‘Just Give In/Never Going Home’ labelled by The 405 as “one of the strongest records of the year”. 2019 saw her gain an even wider audience after touring with Lord Huron and Death Cab For Cutie.

Where the double EP was very much a lo-fi, bedroom-produced record, English left her home setup behind in favour of roomy recording studios and tapped up session players for her debut album. Bigger, lusher, and more live-sounding, the LP shows a new side to English: one that conveys the joy and excitement of collaboration. Drawing from a more grandiose sonic palette while pulling on the same sun-kissed thread of her previous work, half of the record was made in LA with super-producer Justin Raisen (Sky Ferreira, Charli XCX, Angel Olsen), while English flew to Atlanta to work with Ben H. Allen (Deerhunter, M.I.A, Animal Collective) on the other half.

Sophia Boro - Nobody Knows.

Nashville songwriter Sophia Boro has unveiled "Nobody Knows," the first single from her upcoming debut EP, expected this fall. Set for release on April 24, "Nobody Knows" is a rebuke to the establishment. After working as a server, Boro wrote this song to call out toxic work culture, especially in the service industry where she and her fellow co-workers were often treated as insignificant pieces of the process.

Nashville artist Ian Miller produced “Nobody Knows” and also played keys on the track. Ian’s experience as Music Director of Brett Eldredge’s band lead him to provide a keen sense of direction for Sophia’s new tracks. “Nobody Knows was tracked on one of those days where everything starts out a bit chaotic but that energy is reigned in during the recording process to create a real emotion that is tied to the song," recalls producer Ian Miller. When the recording session was held, there was confusion over booking a drummer. Ian came through in the clutch and called up veteran drummer Nate Felty (Kelsey Waldon, Devon Gilfillian). Nate had a plane to catch just hours from then, so he raced over to Ian’s studio, listened to Sophia run through the vocals once, and together the six-piece ensemble assembled for the session that afternoon completed tracking on “Nobody Knows” in 45 minutes.

A Suzuki trained violinist with roots in the theater, Sophia Boro has an affinity for the melodramatic and romantic. Her poetic lyrics are laced with metaphors and intricate stories, while her unique and sultry vocals lend to a 90’s-esq folk-rock sound. It wasn’t until her time at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln when Boro discovered her passion for music. During college she honed in on her vocals and upon moving to Nashville she has expanded her songwriting ability.

Ed Rome - Feel No Pain (E.P).

The Feel No Pain EP is the brand new, highly anticipated release from critically acclaimed recording artist Ed Rome, out on Kingston Express Records in late April.

Ed Rome’s first release for more than 5 years, the Feel No Pain EP was recorded, mixed, produced and mastered by Ed Rome at his studio: Slam Door Studios.

The Feel No Pain EP features four brand new tracks, ranging from pumping Roots Reggae to authentic Trad Ska, plus a bonus dub version of the 2015 BBC Radio favourite ‘Don’t Believe The Hype’ featuring Freddie Notes (Montego Bay - Trojan).

TTRRUUCES - Evil Elephant.

If you’ve been following the trajectory of TTRRUUCES, you’ll have seen that the duo place creativity and imagination at the forefront of everything they do. Spinning free of the confines of genre. they’ve created an otherworldly narrative that’s been further explored with a series of striking videos.

It’s an approach that’s winning support from Jack Saunders and Phil Taggart at Radio 1, Tom Robinson at 6 Music, John Kennedy at Radio X, plus Clash and DIY. They’ve also been added to key playlists at Spotify, Deezer and SoundCloud.

Now TTRRUUCES’ vision is set to be fully unleashed with the news that they’ll release their self-titled debut album on June 26th. The album is launched with the new single ‘Evil Elephant’ alongside an official video.

Written as a rock opera, the album is a dream-like adventure, simultaneously euphoric and disorientating in both mood and execution. At its core is the story of a Sad Girl and a Lost Boy, whose quest to acquire a new drug named TTRRUUCES takes them on a mind-altering journey. The album’s sound is equally audacious. The Anglo-French duo - Natalie Findlay and Jules Apollinaire - are full of starry-eyed ambition, and have crafted a saturated fusion of symphonic pop, boisterous beats and reflective ballads. Each song is accompanied by a visual which will ensemble into a final movie.

The first character that the narrative introduces is Sadie, the 17-year-old Sad Girl. She’s disenchanted, depressed and out of place in the world. Desperate and unhappy at home and in need of real sensations, she leaves home looking for a new experimental blue substance TTRRUUCES, promising to expand your mind and offer true happiness. We’re then transported to the local disco, where we meet Syd, the Lost Boy. He’s a little older than Sadie, but he’s also an outsider. He can’t find his lust for life, despite living a hedonistic existence of risk-taking and epic nights out.

They meet and together they embark upon an unlikely rite-of-passage, which encompasses experimenting with TTRRUUCES, inducing an insanely powerful bad trip followed by and ecstatic and Joyfull roadtrip, ultimately, the possibility of a spiritual awakening and a life-long bond.

Derayernah - Ttrruuces - The Last Morrell - Claire Coupland - Sam Doores - Marlene Oak

Derayernah just released 'Siberian Scopes' along with the lyric video for what is an exceptional song where power meets creativity resulting in this gorgeous piece. === Ttrruuces have shared 'Sensations Of Cool'. We featured debut their track 'Sad Girl' last October and the new song has lush electronica with some psychedelic vibes and fabulous vocals. === The Last Morrell shares 'A Comedy' where majestic dual vocals (thanks to Caitlyn Scarlett) make this a very special song. === From Claire Coupland we have 'Leave Me Alone' where the folk/roots singer songwriter is in feisty form and the video adds more to this musical story. === Swedish singer song-writer Marlene Oak has released the rather gorgeous 'One Way', her vocals are melodic and powerful on this very catchy track.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Derayernah - Siberian Scopes.

Derayernah is not just a band name: it’s a feeling; a spirit animal; a footnote at the bottom of a religious text; a foghorn in the night directing you to another realm. It’s no surprise then that the band have chosen now to introduce the world to not just their debut album, “In Joys” but also a brand-new single, “Siberian Scopes”. Derayernah chose not to promote “In Joys” last year: “We didn't promote our debut album because we wanted to wait for the Consummation of All Things to draw nearer, the end of the world. That time is now".

Though time is running out for music lovers to experience the unruly whirling dervish daymare of 1920s Dadaism, lyrical surrealism and knowing humour (sometimes lost on humans) of their recorded work, Derayernah is proud to present, though bullishly indifferent to judgement, a glimpse of what would happen if Gregorian monks met prog yetis in a boxing ring in the Middle East via a scenic route taking in Turkey. To quote the band’s slogan, Derayernah are finally ready to Unveil the Arm.

Recorded in 2019 at Anchor Lane Studio in Glasgow by Luigi Pasquini, In Joys is the full-length debut of Derayernah (Drue Marsland and Jhau Watema), though they chose not to bother telling anyone about it at the time. Over seven tracks, the band evoke shades of the concentrated freak concerti of Mothers of Invention, the proto-surgery rock of Black Midi and the proggy excesses of Porcupine Tree. Having met when Drue walked into the wrong rehearsal room and opted to stay with Jhau rather rejoin his actual bandmates, the band never doubted the cosmos’ choice in uniting them and succumbed to their destiny of writing art rock with lyrics which would doubtless spook horses – for example, from Dreaming on the Upper:

Lystra, where are your ephods?
(At the core of the giant cosmos)
Derbe, where are your priests?
(The ram was slain out of time’s realm)
Icon, we are not godings
(Catch the foxes in our starry vineyard)
Firstly, big on your wreath
(Scar their kind lest they spoil what we’ve made)
https://genius.com/albums/Derayernah/In-joys

To accompany the album is a brand-new single released on 12th March, Siberian Scopes, which builds on their transcendental foundations. The band happy to explain the story behind the track: “The song tells of a voyage to the dystopian city of Abakan to pay homage to a larger-than-life monarch known as “the Tsar”.

Sonically, we’d long been fans of Turkish folk music, and wanted to infuse an Eastern vibe into one of our numbers, but not in a patchy gimmicky way. So, we used conventional rock instrumentation, but the melodic skeleton of the song is Near Eastern-ish, with chanted vocals”.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ttrruuces - Sensations Of Cool.

TTRRUUCES’ mind-altering narrative has started to infiltrate the nation’s airwaves. Their latest, self-titled track - themed around an experimental, consciousness expanding new drug - has picked up Radio 1 plays courtesy of Jack Saunders, adding to previous support from Tom Robinson at 6 Music.

So far, their tracks have also introduced the two lead characters in their story. There’s Sadie, the 17-year-old Sad Girl, who’s disenchanted, depressed and out of place in the world. We’ve also met Syd, the Lost Boy. He’s a little older than Sadie, but he’s also an outsider. He can’t find his lust for life, despite living a hedonistic existence of risk-taking and epic nights out.

And most recently, TTRRUUCES was unveiled. The experiemental new drug which is available as a blue pill or a deep electric blue powder. The drug reputedly opens your mind, makes your confront your fears and shows you the world for what it really is. With ‘Sensations of Cool’, TTRRUUCES have continued to exapand their sound, this time around it is a sleek concoction of French tinted electronic and symphonic psychedelia, with the elegant lead vocal expressing Sadie’s experiences.

The track’s video finds the narrative’s lead character Sadie as she desperately seeks a like-minded soul in her mundane neighbourhood. Her curiosity rapidly becomes voyeuristic as she discovers that fakery, vanity and consumerism has overwhelmed society. She discovers that the town has become a grotesque suburban freak show, populated by weird sex, Stepford Wives and psychotic late night gardeners. The video reflects the immorality that’s an essential part of TTRRUUCES’ fictional world, but one that’s just a step away from our own existence. “This is by far the most kooky video I’ve ever directed,” commented filmmaker Sam Kinsella. “We went Lynch meets Dr. Seuss, and I still get genuinely scared every time I watch it back. Both the song and the video perfectly capture my feelings towards the current world, which I’ve been struggling to express for some time.”

London based TTRRUUCES relocated to the seaside for a year to give themselves the freedom to fully immerse themselves in creating their debut album. They produced it themselves before calling on Alan Moulder (Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Foals) for mixing duties, and France’s leading engineer Chab (Daft Punk, Christine & The Queens) for mastering. Emerging from their self-imposed exile, TTRRUUCES released ‘Sad Girl’ late last year and it received early airplay from Tom Robinson at 6 Music. They’ve also played select introductory shows including The Great Escape and The British Sound Project as well a secret show at their HQ, a converted studio warehouse named The Factory.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Last Morrell - A Comedy.

Raised in a small Yorkshire town, emerging artist The Last Morrell has already performed alongside BRIT Award-winning singer-songwriter Tom Odell and exciting jazz four-piece Ezra Collective, as well as a set at BBC Introducing Live last year. He also performs as a session musician, hiding at the back of the stage playing keys and guitar for ‘alternative soul’ artist VC Pines and prodigal talent Caitlyn Scarlett. The latter joins him on his new single ‘A Comedy’ out 12th March.

‘A Comedy’ is the story of a couple who’ve been arguing for hours, they’ve lost sight of why they started fighting and it’s become more about who wins the argument than who is right or wrong. The song follows the aftermath of this argument as the couple try to get their connection back, calling to each other to let their guard down and find comfort in each other’s arms again. ‘A Comedy’ is about a communication breakdown between two people who ultimately love each other.

With over 10 million streams on Spotify, Caitlyn Scarlett is an exciting addition to the track, softly harmonizing The Last Morrell’s sultry McCartney-esque whispers with oozing honey-like tones. Vintage organ rays and twinkling guitars set the backdrop for the duo’s yearning and self-reflective nostalgia.

Similar to The Last Morrell’s last single ‘Another Boy’, it’s a warm track that draws on classic 70s influences with confidence and ease yet weaves seamlessly into a modern paradigm which twists and turns like a black swan ballet. ‘A Comedy’ offers somewhere between a stunning duet that recalls the chemistry of past love duets like ‘I Got You Babe’ to ‘Islands In The Stream’ fused with peak Wings and Fleetwood Mac. This is quality music.

Claire Coupland - Leave Me Alone.

A Vancouver Islander at heart, now a Toronto dwelling folk/roots singer songwriter, Claire effortlessly pulls her audience into her personal world of love and life experiences, but always with a touch of her “wicked sense of humour” (Rik Emmett, Triumph). Influenced by folk/rock artists growing up and a degree in Contemporary Music performance, she blends her own style of intricate guitar playing and jazz influenced melodies, progressions and arrangements.

An OAC songwriting nominee, she’ll have concert goers bobbing their heads one minute, and silence the room with a tender rendition the next. With the vocal power of Susan Tedeschi paired with the velvety softness of Eva Cassidy, she brings her warm, approachable west coast charm to the stage and a graceful contemporary feel to indie folk music.

Known for her ability to “transport her listeners to another world” her pure, clear voice, passionate performances and skilfully crafted songs paired with a personable performance approach win over audiences, time and time again. She also has a talent for mimicry and may whip out a voice impression or two…

Sam Doores - Other Side of Town (ft. Alynda Segarra).

Sam Doores of The Deslondes (and formerly Hurray for the Riff Raff), is set to release his self-titled solo debut tomorrow via New West Records. The 14-song set was recorded in Berlin by Anders ‘Ormen’ Christopherson, in Nashville by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for the Riff Raff) and in Doores’ homebase of New Orleans. Written on-and-off over the course of several years, Doores’ captivating solo debut is classic and contemporary all at once. Blending traditional southern roots, New Orleans R&B, and psychedelic landscapes, Sam Doores is a cinematic and infectious collection that reckons with heartache and loss, love and gratitude, fresh starts and, ultimately, a whole lotta change.

Working in Berlin, Doores found himself collaborating with an inspiring cast of characters from all over the world assembled by the producer Christopherson, resulting in a wild international “Wrecking Crew” of sorts. The album also features Alynda Lee Segarra of Hurray For The Riff Raff, Margo Price, Mat Davidson of Twain, and the New Orleans jazz mainstays Tuba Skinny.

The Bitter Southerner has premiered the video for the single “Other Side of Town” featuring Alynda Lee Segarra of Hurray For the Riff Raff today. Shot in New Orleans during this year’s Mardi Gras, The Bitter Southerner says, “In this track, a modern doo-wop song set in our beloved New Orleans, Doores and his former bandmate Alynda Segarra deliver an upbeat antidote to heartbreak. A response to hard times, these beats might be just what the doctor ordered.”

Marlene Oak - One Way.

Swedish singer-songwriter Marlene Oak follows up her recent track ”Black Roses” with new single “One Way” - co-written and co-produced by Jake Bugg. The new single will be a part of Marlene Oak’s debut album, to be released on the 10th of April. “'One way' for me is about taking the courage to open up new doors in your life, breaking old patterns and destructive ways of living” says Marlene Oak. “But in order for new opportunities to arise, you gotta have the courage to leave old patterns behind.”

Marlene Oak wrote the song together with Jake Bugg - a new friend and collaborator who she got in touch with in an unexpected way. “Jake and I have mutual friends from Sweden, so I contacted him on my own and asked if he wanted to have a writing session. To be honest - at first, I was very nervous to have a session with him since he’s always been a big inspiration to me, but as soon we started writing it all came naturally. We met up at the studio Riksmixningsverket when he was in Stockholm, and then we sat there for a full day, writing together. That’s when we wrote ‘One Way’” says Marlene Oak, and continues:

“I love the way Jake's writing, he's so good at finding melodies and making all the parts fit together.  He has taught me a lot and I'm very happy that we wrote this song.” With co-writing, co-production and guitar by Jake Bugg, drums by Guido Ros, bass by Samuel Colmar, and mixing by Linn Fijal, together they’ve managed to create an atmospheric and raw track that hits you right in the heart.

“Growing up on an island outside Stockholm, singer-songwriter Marlene Oak turned to music as her escape, and then spent her teenage years busking on the streets of the Swedish capital’s Old Town.”

After releasing a couple of singles, and last year’s EP “Silver Moon”, she has gone all-in as a live artist, and built her following on the pub and festival stages around Sweden. Marlene Oak has enchanted audiences with her folk-rock melodies across the country as she focuses on performing live, including lucrative festival performances such as Way Out West, STHLM Americana and Irisfestivalen. Marlene Oak’s debut EP ‘Silver Moon’ was released in 2019, with the debut album “Northern Winds” coming on the 10th of April.

Marika Wittmar - True Moon feat. Christine Owman - Ttrruuces - Malena Zavala - Tuvaband

Marika Wittmar has just shared 'Underneath Your Hands'. The Swedish songwriter has surrounded herself with an impressive musical arrangement which contrast well with her distinct and powerful vocals.

Swedish quartet True Moon feat. Christine Owman share 'Sisters In Arms' a fast paced post punk song with just a hint of Gothic vibes and hooks galore.

Ttrruuces debut track in entitled 'Sad Girl'. Accompanied by an animated video, the song opens as a gently melodic piece. Gorgeously arranged with fabulous harmonies and rich textures of musical sound, it builds into something quite epic.

Malena Zavala latest release is 'En La Noche' a song that somehow manages to capture the vibrancy of Latin American music and mix it with psych pop/rock! This is something rather special.

Just over a month ago we featured Tuvaband for the first time and now we have another fine song entitled 'He Said Me Too'. The vocals are incredible and exude emotion and intensity, it's another fine tease for the forthcoming album.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marika Wittmar - Underneath Your Hands.

Marika Wittmar is a Swedish songwriter and artist who mixes influences from blues, folk/world music, ballads and jazz with lyrics inspired by i.a. buddhistic meditation and female mythology.

Her band, constisting of both folk musicians and jazz musicians was formed at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg 2018. Hammond organ, drums, bouzouki, harmonies, bass and guitars make up the bands' instrumental foundation, together with Marikas powerful and characteristic lead vocals.

The debut-EP Underneath Your Hands was recorded in Svenska Grammofonstudion in Gothenburg in spring of 2019 and will be released later this year.

True Moon feat. Christine Owman - Sisters In Arms.

Swedish quartet True Moon offers an enchanting blend of dark wave, post-punk, and alternative that eclipses musical trends.  Formed by members of Grammy-nominated band Vånna Inget, Karolina Engdahl (vocals/bass) and Tommy Tift (guitar), they have created a charming darkness; together with Linus Segerstedt (guitar) and Fredrik Orevad (drums), they are a force to be reckoned with.

Engdahl and Tift began this project when they were inspired to create something that was more raw and visceral than the songs they were working on for Vånna. "It was like an urge and we just had to do this,” says Engdahl. The result was True Moon's 2016 self-titled debut, a brooding yet sensual work that garnered attention in the Scandinavian music community and beyond.  With influences including Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, The Mission, early Cure, Stevie Nicks, and Heart, they channeled a sound of bittersweet twilight.

True Moon expanded their audience with performances in Sweden, the UK, and the United States, playing with bands like Killing Joke, King Dude, MCC, Dead Soul, Nicole Saboune, and many more. Now poised for their next release, titled II, True Moon has nowhere to go but up. "We want to draw our own cult of believers together and create a little chaos of our own," Karolina says. "We want this record to be like an infectious poison."

Both II and True Moon were produced by Jari Haapalainen, who adds guitar to the recordings and also joins the band on stage occasionally. Lövely Records will release II in digital, CD, and vinyl formats on November 1st, 2019.

Ttrruuces - Sad Girl.

It’s notoriously hard to stand out in the congested world of new music, but that’s something that TTRRUUCES have achieved with their debut track ‘Sad Girl’. From their storytelling style to their unique sound through to their touching animated video, TTRRUUCES are doing something quite unlike anyone else around.

Their debut single ‘Sad Girl’ represents the first chapter of a grand narrative tale that will be told in full with TTRRUUCES’s debut album. The song introduces Sadie, the ‘Sad Girl’ of its title. She’s 17-years-old, depressed and different. As a musician who loves the icons of rock and roll history – Bowie, Queen, The Velvet Underground, Nirvana - Sadie feels out of place and out of time with her generation. She has few friends and has never had a boyfriend.

But little does she realise that she’s on the cusp of a much bigger adventure. As the song’s lyrics promise, “Have a little patience, you may find just what you’re looking for.”

The opening of ‘Sad Girl’ sounds like some long-lost masterpiece of late ‘60s psych folk that’s only just been rediscovered by a particularly committed crate-digger. Yet it constantly shifts into an individualistic amalgamation of other genres and sounds, taking in choral-style vocal harmonies, lush bursts of strings and a Zappa-esque guitar solo.

That spirit of adventure extends to the striking video. Callum Scott-Dyson mixes a range of animation techniques to bring the ‘Sad Girl’ to life, in the process dropping some subtle references to a variety of legendary artists. The visuals that bring TTRRUUCES’s fictional universe will evolve with future releases, with a live action cast and experimental film techniques bringing the rock opera and its protagonists to life.

Though based in London, TTRRUUCES relocated to the French seaside for a year to give themselves the freedom to fully immerse themselves in creating their debut album. They produced it themselves before calling on Alan Moulder (Arctic Monkeys, Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails) for mixing duties. The song was mastered by France’s leading engineer Chab (Daft Punk, Christine & The Queens).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Malena Zavala - En La Noche.

Heritage is a complex thing for the Argentina born and UK raised producer/multi-instrumentalist songwriter Malena Zavala. On her debut album Aliso, released last year, she offered an aesthetic which married the worldly rhythms and magical lyricism of her latino background with the vitality and production values of contemporary psych rock and dream pop. It was quickly lauded for its creative fearlessness and dulcet melodics. The Guardian praised it in their 4* review as did The Sunday Times, Stereogum, NPR, The Line of Best Fit and more.

Not one to rest on her laurels, Malena has been prolific since, playing festivals such as Green Man and touring with Men I Trust, Blanco White and Lord Huron and writing a trove of new material which she intends to release as her second album early next year. The first single from this new body of work, ‘En La Noche’ (translates as 'In The Night') combines traditional Latino Cumbia rhythms with lysergic guitars and a swirling ambient production style to create a beatific exploration of the role of dreams in creativity. “I started creating a fictional world where your dreams are just important as your reality" explains Malena.

"I had been reading Gabriel Garcia Márquez’s ‘100 Years Of Solitude’ so I was obsessed with magical realism at the time. In your dreams the whole world dances together. If you get complacent, magical forces pin you to the floor and you can spend the rest of your days there. It’s a metaphor for getting as much as you can out of life and not getting lazy.”

By pairing the music of her earliest memories with the music of her young adulthood, Malena challenges generic conventions while simultaneously crossing the borders of identity. ‘En La Noche’ invites the musical worlds of salsa, afro-funk, cumbia, guarani, and many more, to a moonlit dream party with the likes of Beach House, Tame Impala, Khruangbin and Connan Mockasin.

She hopes the rhythms in her music will bring people together: “Dancing is in the heart of Latin America and in my soul so I wanted to incorporate more of that in my music and live shows to get anyone moving. Even people who aren’t comfortable dancing. It takes all seriousness out of it”.

The dance theme continues with the vibrant new video for ‘En La Noche’ directed by George Moore. “I wanted to really capture the energising effect of the music, and reflect the song’s vibrancy in the visuals,” says Moore. “Out of that came the idea of starting with painterly staged poses, and building up to a dynamic and colourful dance sequence as the music fills the performers with life.

“The decision to shoot in a stunning Victorian theatre and use a lot of smooth motion helped lend a floaty, dream-like quality to the video, and Malena really knocked the choreography out of the park, with intuitive dance skills the rest of us can only dream of!” By synthesising the things she loves, Malena’s music expresses herself in its purest form. She is a vital new sound for our transnational times.

Tuvaband - He Said Me Too.

Last month Tuvaband (aka Norwegian artist Tuva Hellum Marschhäuser) announced the release of their second album I Entered The Void (27 November via Brilliance Records), and shared the album’s title track - an otherworldly, atmospheric slice of Brad Fiedel-esque cinematic synthwave. Now Tuvaband return with a second single ‘He Said Me Too’, a song equal to its predecessor in its ethereal beauty but with a duskier, heavier soul. ‘He Said Me Too’ is a song that binds itself around the listener, at once both alluring in its melancholy yet claustrophobic, giving the sense that the listener is drowning in the song’s spellbinding current.

‘He Said Me Too’ is a song about the complex process whereby the oppressed become the oppressor, and the mentality that being a victim creates an increasingly accepted cycle of revenge. Inspired by a series of documentaries and media coverage in Norway, of witch hunts and shifting power struggles, in ‘He Said Me Too’ Tuva reflects on ideas such as the cycle of war, as Tuva expands “after a war in a country where one group is oppressed, very often you see that group later go to war against the group that offended”. Its a song that explores without judgment a human trait Tuva finds “interesting, but also scary and sad”, one where values and principles are lost in a cycle of an eye for an eye.

The lyrical depth of thought displayed on ‘He Said Me Too’ is indicative of the I Entered The Void long-player as a whole. The album was written in what Tuva describes as “The Void”, newly relocated to Berlin, the artist found herself in a place between old and new, with most of the album being written
by Tuva alone in her home studio. This period of isolation has led to an album of deep musical undercurrents, and even deeper lyrical reflections.

Tuvaband has previously released one album, the critically acclaimed debut Soft Drop (2018, AntiFragile/Brilliance Records), which garnered acclaim both in Tuva’s homeland of Norway and internationally, with Tuvaband being named ‘Ones to Watch’ twice by The Guardian, and the band’s SXSW Austin showcase of the same year garnering a flurry of attention from tastemaker US media.

‘He Said Me Too’ is released as a digital single today with the album I Entered The Void following on 27 November, both on Brilliance Records. Tuvaband will perform in the UK in the new year: 5th February 2020: The Lexington, London.
