Gelgia Caduff - Sarah Villiger - Emily Hines - KEYS - Sister Wives

Gelgia Caduff - Socializing.

Critics are consistently raving when Gelgia Caduff, no stranger in the Gothic- und Rockmusic-scene, from the Canton of Solothurn, Switzerland, takes the stage or releases music. And no wonder—especially when considering her latest masterpiece. While others, sometimes for financial reasons, perform in duos or solo, using background sounds from a computer, multi-instrumentalist and exceptional singer Gelgia Caduff goes all out.

For her new single "Socializing," she teamed up with an Orchestra and a grand choir. The result is an orchestral rock opus that forms part of a massive rock opera with stunning visuals. The work, titled "Wishful Thinking" (pre-release album stream), is her most ambitious and elaborate project to date. The album will be released in May in both digital and physical formats, offering a mesmerizing journey through soundscapes—from ethereal, fairy-like vocals with delicate subtlety to ecstatic, powerful "Wall of Sound" moments. "Socializing" is just a taste of what’s to come.

Sarah Villiger - Next Corner.

Yes, soul is alive! Modern, orchestral, and smooth, with pop melodies—that’s how "Next Corner", the new single by Sarah Villiger, sounds. Dark stairways in the city of Bern lead to high rooftops and broad horizons. Perfectionism, procrastination, and despair. Hope and vastness. All of this can be found in the songs of Sarah Villiger, the sister of renowned film composer Martin Villiger. With Next Corner, the title track of her upcoming EP is now being released as a single.

The singer-songwriter writes her music in the attic of her apartment in Bern—diving into a wide range of musical styles from there. Her voice is shaped by pop, jazz, soul, and classical music. The music is built on a pop and jazz foundation, opening doors to synth-pop, neo-soul, hip-hop, and lo-fi.

Sarah Villiger plays with contrasts, blending deep tones with her bright voice. The result culminates in a mix of analog retro synths and digital sounds—featured on her debut EP Next Corner, set for release in 2025. Sarah Villiger has already made a name for herself in the music world. She has sung for film scores composed by her brother, Martin Villiger, which have been featured on Swiss television. In 2025, she also plans to release new songs that will highlight her versatile voice.

Emily Hines - Cowgirl Suit.

Nashville-based songwriter Emily Hines has signed to Keeled Scales. This week she releases her new single “Cowgirl Suit.” A self-described chronically-sincere farm girl, Hines grew up on a farm in rural Ohio before moving to Nashville where she played in other songwriters’ projects before recording her own songs on a 4-track cassette recorder.

“I wrote ‘Cowgirl Suit’ when I was in-between farm jobs, pretty fresh out of college. I was working at a local food co-op and seeing someone who wasn’t seeing me. Everything felt precarious and precious. The lyrics are a long list of things I was too scared to say at the time.”

Hines worked with producer Henry Park. Together they drew inspiration from acts like Duster, Laura Marling, and Karen Dalton to record simply and add layers one at a time. She writes, “This was the recording that inspired me to make an album. I had already recorded a few songs with Henry, but when we made this one, we felt validated in our vision. The base of every song we made is a live-take recorded on the cassette. We wanted the recordings to be organic and honest. This is the simplest production on the record, but it guided everything else we made. Something in the drum machine, the tape, and the imperfections came together to create a vulnerable yet dynamic sound. We set out to make a body of work to match it.”

KEYS - What Flavour?

Libertino is proud to announce the release of “What Flavour?”, the brand-new single from @keysmusicuk A bold departure from their past work, the track takes inspiration from the raw, rhythmic urgency of ESG, Liquid Liquid, and the early ’80s New York post-disco underground, channeling the energy of 99 Records into something distinctly their own.

Frontman Matthew Evans explains the song’s unexpected origins: “‘What Flavour?’ began with something my daughter said while staring at the endless choices at an ice cream stand on holiday in Tenby. We instinctively sang it back to her, and before long, it snowballed into a full-blown song. As it unfolds, the track grows more agitated, from playful indecision into the agony of craving what someone else has. We’d been deep into disco and 99 Records bands at the time, so everything came out upside down.

It doesn’t sound like anything we’ve done before, and that’s exactly why we love it.” Built around tight, hypnotic grooves and a growing sense of unease, “What Flavour?” reflects the genre-blurring spirit of early ’80s NYC, where funk, punk, and dance music collided on downtown dancefloors. KEYS distill that restless energy into a song that starts as a playful singalong but soon spirals into something deeper—anxious, urgent, and impossible to shake.

With its percussive drive and warped funk sensibilities, “What Flavour?” marks an exciting new chapter for KEYS, proving that after all these years, they’re still pushing forward, still hungry for the unexpected.

Sheffield's Sister Wives return with new single 'Malady - their first new music since their 2022 Welsh Music Prize nominated debut album, 'Y Gawres'.

Unearthing forgotten feminist histories through myth and landscape, Sister Wives weave wild tales braiding the Welsh and English language over their signature glam-droog-acid-stomp. The band's songs deal with ever-shifting expectations and injustices, forgone heroines, the divine feminine and the veiled mysteries of ancient lands.

'Malady' is about "an inner ‘beast waking up inside your body; backing you up and empowering you to stand up to bad men," they share. "It’s also about how strong females frighten said bad men and historically this power is perceived as a sickness, madness, or malady..."

Sister Wives - Gabrielle Shonk - Bad Sounds - Sunglasses For Jaws

Sister Wives - O Dŷ i Dŷ / Streets At Night.

Sister Wives have shared two more tracks from their forthcoming debut album. The Double A single release sees the emerging Welsh speaking band release tracks 'Streets at Night' and 'O Dŷ i Dŷ', following on from a string of well-received singles and appearances at festivals across the UK this summer. Inspired by Welsh mythology, thread throughout a cavernous mix of psychedelia, folk, post-punk, garage and 70s glam rock, Sister Wives recently announced their debut album will be released on 28th October via Libertino Records.

New track 'O Dŷ i Dŷ' is about the Welsh folkloric custom of South Wales, The horse headed Mari Lwyd. The song discusses the tradition and questions whether she has been culturally appropriated, and if she has, whether this is a bad thing or not. The earliest accounts of the horse headed Mari date back to 1798, but the tradition declined in popularity in the early 20th century. The tradition saw a resurgence towards the end of the 20th century and then in 21st century has increased its popularity with the iconic image and use of the Mari spreading as far as North America. O Dŷ i Dŷ’ translates as ‘From house to house’, referencing how she attempts to gain entry to houses, where a musical battle would commence to gain entry, like a poetry slam.

"The song questions whether this is a way of celebrating Welsh culture or whether this is a form of cultural appropriation" says the band. "It mentions how ‘the mare runs free, let’s see where she ends up landing’ and asks for people to reflect on whether those who have resurrected her in other countries are guilty of stealing her skeleton."

Meanwhile, 'Streets at Night' is a literal, visceral description of what it feels like to fear for one's life when walking at night. Paired with a retro organ and a pulsing changeable tempo, the track imbues a distinctive sense of dread - almost emulating a classic horror movie soundtrack. "The song was written as an outlet for this experience that we’ve all felt" says the band. "The speed of the song changing halfway through influenced the lyrics and we hear heartbeats speeding up and slowing down throughout, mirroring the feeling of being on high alert when out walking alone."

Gabrielle Shonk - How We Used To Be.

Montréal-based singer-songwriter Gabrielle Shonk shares “How We Used To Be”, her first new music in five years. The song is taken from her forthcoming 2023 album which chronicles the enormity of heartache and hope that comes with endings and new beginnings.

“How We Used To Be” marks a new chapter in Shonk’s career. After parting ways with the major label behind her debut album, she used her newfound creative freedom to collaborate with longtime friends, co-writer Jessy Caron of the band Men I Trust, and producer Jesse Mac Cormack (Helena Deland). The result is a moody single with tinges of 90s R&B exploring romantic nostalgia by reminiscing about a relationship before it fell apart.

Released today via Arts & Crafts, "How We Used To Be" is a love ballad about "a relationship that was hard to leave," explains the JUNO-nominated singer. Delicate piano lines and softly-strummed acoustic guitar accompany Shonk's dreamy vocals recalling a time in a relationship before it turned toxic. “I hate you, I love you, I miss you,” Shonk laments before the soulful chorus reflects on better times: “Touch my hand, gently / Talk to me, it’s soothing / Make me see how we used to be.”

How do you come back to yourself? Perhaps it’s important to first understand you have become lost, and admit you’ve veered off path. How then do you begin to piece yourself back together? Five years since her self-titled debut, this is the journey Gabrielle Shonk takes us on with her sophomore album set for release in winter 2023.

Bad Sounds - Nu Me Nu Yu. 

Sounding bigger and better than ever before, Bad Sounds return with their knock-out new single ‘Nu Me Nu Yu’. Self-produced and mixed by Nathan Boddy (Mura Masa, Biig Piig, PinkPantheress), bursting with energy the track is an unmissable reminder that Bad Sounds are ever-evolving and here back once again to stay.

Sharing more, the band explained: "We’re absolutely delighted be the latest in a long list of bands ripping off the Beatles and repackaging it as our own. ‘Nu Me Nu Yu’ is a song that was originally destined for one of our side projects, but everybody we know told us it sounds too much like Bad Sounds, so we eventually got the hint and now we feel silly for not realizing it ourselves. The lyrics are pretty self explanatory, they’re just spelled stupid.

The video is super DIY just like they were when we first started out. We built a room of mirrors and spent a day bumping into our reflections, and trying to not break the glass floor/ceiling/walls. It was super fun to shoot and kinda trippy to watch. We really hope people like it!

Nu Me Nu Yu is the band's first release since January which saw the launch of their impressive EP ‘Escaping from A Violent Time Vol 2.’. The dreamy five track record played host to some stand-out collaborative moments including ‘Move Into Me’ which featured New Zealand two-piece BROODS and ‘You Move backwards’ which features hotly tipped UK artist Ruti.

The band's collaborations continue outside of their own music as their production and songwriting network flourishes in their purpose built studio in the Cotswolds. They’ve had their finger on the pulse collaborating with lots of important new acts coming through, including Arlo Parks (co-writing and producing track ‘Bluish’ off her debut album) and others like Rose Gray, Miso Extra, Joey Maxwell, Devon, Max Pope, VC Pines, SOFY and LCYTN.

Sunglasses For Jaws - Under a Rainbow.

London based outfit Sunglasses For Jaws today announce their new album 'A Room In Europe' will be released 16th February 2023 via Hackney tastemaker label Pony Recordings (Tempesst, Caleb Kunle). The trio mark the album announcement with the release of the album's first single and album opener, "Under A Rainbow" - featuring vocals from Australian singer Elle Musa.

Widescreen, psych-rock with a penchant for the dramatic, Sunglasses For Jaws consists of David Bardon, Oscar Robertson and Olivier Huband. The outfit's new album was produced by David and Oscar in their London studio and mixed by Elliot Heinrich  (Sorry, Parquet Courts, DEADLETTER).

Combining a love of Scott Walker, Somalian 70’s funk, Hollywood strings with a dash of Portishead, new single "Under A Rainbow" opens with a spiralling string arrangement intertwined with splashes of Turkish Yazh - before dropping into its riveting, luxurious psych-groove. Never short of epic reveals, the instrumental is punctuated by welcome splashes of wah wah guitars and triumphant horn sections.

Featured vocalist - Brisbane based painter and musician Elle Musa adds a delicacy and poise to the track, as she pines for normality, new experiences and good times amidst unusual circumstances.

Speaking on the lyrical inspiration, Elle Musa said: "At a time of isolation in Byron Bay, when we weren’t able to go out or see the world, I wrote this song about longing for newness and good times. I recorded my vocals on a very old little tape machine that my partner found. It was used to record nature documentaries back in the day. I love how the tape machine only records mono but somehow it sounds stereo due to the nature of how well rounded the saturation is. The sounds become more alive and that’s exactly how I wanted to feel when writing the song. In my mind I saw the evening light with the sea close by... Falling in love and the bliss that comes with it. Feeling so free as if dancing underneath a rainbow."

Sister Wives - KiKi Holli - Shannen Moser

Sister Wives - Ticking Time Bomb.

Inspired by Welsh mythology, thread throughout a cavernous mix of psychedelia, folk, post-punk, garage and 70s glam rock, Sister Wives recently announced their debut album will be released on 28th October via Libertino Records, sharing first single and video ‘Greater Place’. Now the band share new single “Ticking Time Bomb” - a track which sees them react to the societal pressure to bear a child; the ticks mirroring the biological clock.

The track's simmering verses give way to a lively, electric hook; it’s simultaneously a protest song and a party song that celebrates freedom and choice. “We wanted to expose the absurdity of having our bodies and choices so heavily monitored and managed by society, and laugh in the face of it,” the band explain. “We know our worth isn’t changed by child bearing, we are not disposable or “geriatric” after age 35, and we refuse to partake in the shaming of ourselves or others for our/their choices. And we deserve autonomy over our bodies, always!”

Y Gawres, the album’s title, is inspired by the ancient burial site on Anglesey, Barclodiad y Gawres, which translates to “The Giantess’ Apronful”. While giants are central to the nation’s folklore, it’s rare to hear of female giants. The idea led the Sheffield-based band — consisting of Donna Lee (vocals/keys/synths), Rose Love (vocals/bass), Liv Willars (vocals/guitar), Lisa O’Hara (vocals/drums) — to picture a devastating, nurturing, awe-inspiring, and most importantly feminine force of their own.

The lyrics are divided between English and Lee’s native Welsh, and the country is deeply present across the album. It’s important to Lee to represent the Welsh language outside of Wales, with the band often making connections with Welsh audience members and showing others that singing in the language is viable and meaningful.

KiKi Holli - Sun Playing Tricks On Me.

Los Angeles indie-pop vocalist KiKi Holli creates stunning and soulful music woven with intricate emotive storytelling for a truly captivating and cathartic listening experience with an eclectic musical aesthetic. Holli draws on inspiration from her rich theatrical background, as well as from iconic artists such as PRINCE, Dusty Springfield, The Cure, Stevie Nicks and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Her latest single "Sun Playing Tricks On Me" is a sultry fever dream in a mirage of lost love. "Sun Playing Tricks", produced and mixed by Grammy nominated Ethan Allen, is an exciting alt-pop song with a soulful vibe. Recorded at Royal Triton Studios in Silverlake, CA. Mastered by Grammy winner, David Collins. The song is layered with warm sun- dripped vocals full of depth. With a new EP in the works, KiKi Holli creates relatable music that culminates into a diary of hope for listeners across the globe.

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Holli was drawn to the arts from an early age, with her passions gravitating towards music and theater. Subsequently, she found solace in these disciplines and later earned her BFA in voice and theater for further exploring her unique talents. In addition to being a trained vocalist, Holli also grew up playing the guitar, saxophone and viola. Theatrically she has appeared on stage in the plays Of Mice and Men, Three Sisters and Twelfth Night, and also played the lead role in the Rocky Horror-channeling indie film Isle of Lesbos, celebrated by Swampflix as “a politically angry, deliberately offensive, post-John Waters, queer-as-f*ck movie musical with deep roots in drag & cabaret traditions.”

Most notably, Holli co-wrote and starred in Forever Dusty, a stage musical based on the life of British pop star Dusty Springfield. The production opened off-Broadway in 2012 at New World Stages in New York, garnering coverage from The Village Voice, Reuters, The New York Times and Out Magazine. From there, the play went on to run in Los Angeles and London, as well as other cities in the U.S. and U.K.

Shannen Moser - Oh My God.

The Philadelphia-based artist Shannen Moser has just released a new single “Oh My God” from their forthcoming album The Sun Still Seems To Move that will be released next Friday, September 30 via Lame-O Records. Moser will celebrate the album’s release with shows in Philadelphia on 9/30 and in Brooklyn on 10/7 with support from Greg Mendez & Yours Are The Only Ears.

“Right before writing ‘Oh My God,’ I had just moved back to Philly after spending the summer in Berks County. I was working on farms and greenhouses that summer and spent a lot of my time outside. I had just ended an important relationship in my life. I was taking care of a sick parent. Everything felt unfamiliar and strange. I had spent the summer shape note singing, driving around and really exploring a natural world that I hadn’t been around in almost a decade,” explains Moser.

“Oh My God’ is a song that recognizes the multiple truths surrounding change and the timeline of our lives. It’s overwhelming and painful, but there’s also a hilarity to it. Like throwing your hands up in the air to concede that no matter how we might try, as the world turns things will change in an endless exchange of joy and sorrow".
