Emma Charles returns with a new single 'You' not that many weeks after we featured her last release 'Vertigo'. Once again her vocals are sensitive and heartfelt on this melodic and dreamy track. === We have already shared three songs from the new E.P. by Phonettes now we have the full collection as 'Algorithm Love' is set for release this Friday. === Weed & Dolphins is about to release 'High' a powerful and feisty alt rocker with plenty of rock and roll hooks along the way.

Emma Charles - You.
Los Angeles-based folk-pop singer/songwriter Emma Charles has reteamed with longtime producer/collaborator Doug Schadt (Shaed, Maggie Rogers) on her new single, their fourth together, “You.” With themes of love, companionship and gratitude at the fore, Charles creates a gorgeously evocative vibe with an acoustic guitar and piano--based track with electronic flourishes that evolves into a transcendent showcase for her shimmering vocal talents.
“You” is released digitally on Sky Records, the pop unit of the Resilience Music Alliance. It is the follow up to her last single “Vertigo” which appears on the recent NOW That’s What I Call Music! 72 (released 10/25) as a featured “What’s Next” selection.
Says Charles: “’You’ came around after finding myself really enamored by someone for a long time. I found myself feeling like this person was the only person I wanted to come back to, to talk to, and to be with. After days where I felt like nobody heard what I had to say, and after spending time doubting myself and my abilities, this person was able to bring me back to reality and keep me grounded.”

Phonettes - Algorithm Love (E.P).
Phonettes is the project around the songs of Amsterdam based singer-songwriter and film composer Daan Hofman. About two years ago he started writing material from scratch with only an analog synthesizer, two guitars and a computer. He sings, plays all instruments, and wrote and produced all the tracks of the EP Algorithm Love, which have been released as singles over 2019.
The songs of Phonettes are shaped by minimalistic beats with dreamy vocal choirs, pickin’ guitars and warm analog synth sounds, even flirting with laid back techno, but preserving the song as its beating heart.
The tracks on Algorithm Love: Wide Awake is a mix of an acoustic song with electronics. Analog synth sounds are circling around the whisper of an acoustic guitar in this brittle song about the clear visions that a sleepless night can bring, If the Stranger Things soundtrack was composed by Sufjan Stevens and featured a unique warm voiced singer with whiffs of David Sylvian, this is what it would sound like.
First Delight is a new-wavish synthpop song, celibrating the spark of youth. On the outer borders of childhood, where we were high on life and restless from everything that was to come. Algorithm Love is the title track of the EP. This ballad on romantic love in the age of online dating, floats in an ambient modular choir towards the edges of the dancefloor.
Morning Brings New is the only lovesong of the EP. A deep and smooth vocal is floating over minimalistic patterns, where dreamy choirs finally celebrate the glory of a new found love. Now We've Lost It All takes the listener back to early Pink Floyd 60s days. Make Up Your Mind is a gospel with a twist. Modular synths and minimal beats bring salvation to a troubled soul.
Algorithm Love (EP) is released 6 December 2019 on BERT music (a division of TCBYML).

Weed & Dolphins - High.
A few years ago a bunch of friends climbed into a local sewerage system to have some fun, drink beers and make photos. But what they found deep in the tunnels turned their whole lives inside out and changed all their plans. To explain their strange behaviour and their sudden regular disappearances from home they teamed up in a band under the name Weed & Dolphins and started to rehearse as a live act for their vocalist’s one-man-band home project.
In 2016 they released a bunch of their early singles on Russian vk.com and started getting themselves into local gigs while reaching their first international audience through Instagram. In the beginning of 2017 the project dropped its debut album - ‘Islandkid cassette’. It was released on cassettes and tagged as ‘cloud-punk’ by Belarusia's biggest art and music magazine 34mag. ‘Islandkid cassette’ summed up the sound and the aesthetics of Weed & Dolphins music of that period. It was a compilation of home recorded playful pop songs with gloomy lyrics behind childish guitar melodies and freaky synths. The production of the album was based on clashing the '80s & '90s post-punk/grunge type arrangements with chopped-n-screwed rap refrains, monotonous spoken word verses and trippy vocal melodies.
The independent Belarusian music guide Experty.by described it as “something between sequenced freak-punk of Atom and His Package and lazy dream-pop of Beach Fossils”. Due to the DIY way of releasing the album and lack of promotion, major blog appearances and management, ‘Islandkid cassette’ didn’t get much international attention as a record. At the same time putting the album on cassette tapes allowed to spread it among retro DIY aesthetic lovers, while positioning the project as an active live band capable of bringing the actual album sound on stage gave Weed & Dolphins a chance to start getting on shows and events outside their home country.
In late 2017 and during 2018 the band did a number of gigs and festivals in Russia, Ukraine, Slovenia, Serbia, Lithuania, Estonia and Hungary with appearances at Ment Ljubljana, What’s next in Music? and Budapest Showcase Hub. In January 2019 Weed & Dolphins performed two showcases at the internationally renowned Eurosonic Noorderslag Festival in Groningen, The Netherlands. To divert attention from what is really hidden somewhere underneath the slums of Minsk, the Belarusian self-proclaimed 'shoegaze-rap project' continues to do underground gigs across Europe.
New single High is the TCBYML debut for Weed & Dolphins, and the first single since their 2017 debut album. The song is about trying to get away from pressure by using illegal substances, getting trapped in an illusionary world, losing your way and staying there forever.

Emerging as the latest enticing from the city’s thriving music scene, the dreamy quartet share tender lead single Dream Wife, taken from forthcoming EP Sea Shoes set for release early next year.
Marshalled by enigmatic frontwoman Heather Sheret, the band’s heady concoction of 90s-esque dream pop and shoegaze extravaganza has already conjured up early online acclaim alongside stellar supports with Honeyblood, Lazy Day and Tess Parks, and with their first trip Stateside for New Colossus Festival already lined up for 2020, the group’s profile looks set to grow further.
Discussing their forthcoming release, the four-piece explained: “Dream Wife is a song for the lovers. A throwback championing that first special someone, and the ‘honeymoon phase’ we’re all familiar with. Whether it’s an unrequited crush or the beginning of something long-term. It’s an arresting period of time that not even your mum can snap you out of with a trip bowling and some Pringles…”

Ben Witkowski - Mountain Man.
Mountain Man by Ben Witkowski is about overcoming one’s doubts and fears to become the best version of themselves. From moments of beautiful acoustic guitars and violin harmonies, to raw, powerful vocals, Mountain Man takes you on a powerful journey of self-discovery.
Ben originally wrote Mountain Man in Adelaide in 2013, once he re-discovered his love for music after going through a rough patch. The song was worked on for six years, and Ben said it changed “around 100 times”, before he finally had it recorded at Marshall Street Studios in Melbourne in 2019.
‘I wrote ‘Mountain Man’ back in a time where I was struggling mentally. I started to think of everything that made me happy, and suddenly this other version of myself appeared in my mind. Someone who believed in themselves and could chase their dreams. I decided to name this alter-ego the ‘Mountain Man’. I hope this song can resonate with other people that may be doing it tough. We can all achieve anything if we truly believe in ourselves.’ - Ben Witkowski
In 2017, Ben recorded and released a single, Army of Three. The song received very positive reviews online, particularly when it was submitted to MTV Asia’s song-writing competition, where it finished in 9th position in a public vote out of over 5,000 song entries.
After sitting down on the family grand piano at age 7, Melbourne-born Ben Witkowski fell in love with music. In his teenage years, he got his hands on as many instruments as he could. Focusing on singing, guitar, and piano, Ben began writing uplifting and beautifully emotive anthems with distinct themes of chasing dreams and making the most of life.
Mountain Man is the first of many powerful and epic songs that Ben has been working on and hopes to release to the world soon.

Papyllon - All The Time.
Emerging European indie pop band Papyllon are five guys playing ambitious music and lyrically exploring the human psyche and its basic needs in modern society.
Fusing groove and pop with industrial bangers, they make sure feel energized, fresh and cool. Critics named their debut album world-class and their shows as impassioned, grandiose experiences.
All The Time is about being lost, being numb, being alone with your own thoughts and your bad decisions and learning to be OK with that in the long run. Not rushing and not chasing the instant answer but instead staying in the present moment, listening to your inner guidance and trying to captivate this moment´s potential with your awake senses.
In short, it is a danceable meditation. Fairy-tale-like verses with soft vocals accompanied by a danceable chorus with a guitar in the style of Niles Rogers and the synth-heavy instrumental hook will throw you in a sea of emotions, in which you'll want to swim again, and again and again…
Previous single What About Tonight got airplay in The US, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Israël and home country Slovakia, was featured in the Spotify Dutch New Music Friday Playlist, was picked up by Popmuzik (Sweden) and Graffiti Vibe (UK) a.o., and both the number of Spotify streams ánd video count on YouTube passed 10.000 plays.

Katie Malco - Phonettes - North Mississippi Allstars
Katie Malco has a brand new single entitled 'Creatures' where the singer-songwriter ups the energy levels with this lyrically personal track that nonetheless rocks away with passion.
If algorithms are your thing then Phonettes latest 'Algorithim Love' might appeal mathematically, for the rest of us Daan Hofman just gets on with sharing a tender and vocally beautiful and quite addictive song.
It's an absolute pleasure to share another track from the North Mississippi Allstars this time we have 'Mean Old World' which features Jason Isbell and Duane Betts, on this bluesy and roots fuelled rocker.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Katie Malco - Creatures.
Rising singer-songwriter Katie Malco shares her brand new single ‘Creatures’, alongside the news that the artist has signed to US label 6131 Records (Julien Baker, Touché Amoré, Self Defense Family). Malco tours from Thursday 12th September, including appearances at The Garage, Islington (with Hüsker Dü’s Bob Mould), and new Norwich festival Wild Paths (Jose Gonzales, Skinny Pelembe, Bess Atwell and more).
The lyrics for the track were written at 3am during a week of mild insomnia. “Creatures is about the thoughts that haunt you at night when you’re trying to sleep. When you think about all the things you’re failing at and it feels like no matter what you do you keep losing the game of life” said Malco.
“It’s about being tired, facing adulthood, leaving youth behind. It’s about pretending to hold it together when at night all the ugliness is plastered across all the walls you stare at from your bed.”
Recorded with Andy Jenkin and Stephen Davidson (lead vocalist of Tellison), ‘Creatures’ is the first track to be released by Malco in some years, since her bold collection of live piano-based songs which formed her Tearing Ventricles EP came out on Alcopop! Records. The lauded EP followed on from the self-produced Four Goodbyes and Katie Malco and the Slow Parade, which was recorded in a North London church with Grammy-nominated producer and artist Iain Archer (Snow Patrol, Reindeer Section). The artist appeared again in Christmas 2017 with a one-off single Be Good at Christmas. Malco is yet to release a debut album.
Katie Malco writes music that sits quietly somewhere between an aching, serene sadness and a hopeful determination. She mourns her past and lays it out on the table for all to see, exposed with twitching nerves. Armed with only an old telecaster that's seen better days and her voice, Malco has toured the UK and mainland Europe extensively, including a sold-out run with Tennessee's Julien Baker (Matador), and a sold-out Union Chapel show, as well as supports with Jenny Lewis, Laura Stevenson, This is the Kit, Laura Veirs, Kevin Devine, Tangled Hair, The Front Bottoms, Adam Torres, PAWS, Potty Mouth and more.

North Mississippi Allstars are set to return with new album 'Up and Rolling' on 4th October via New West Records. The band have now shared new album track “Mean Old World” featuring Jason Isbell & Duane Betts. Rolling Stone calls the song, which was once recorded by Eric Clapton and Duane Allman, an “epic guitar jam.” About the song," Luther says, “Our father recorded ‘Mean Old World’ with Duane Allman and Eric Clapton during the Layla sessions.
Jason invited me to record an acoustic, slide guitar duo version. Cody came up with the new arrangement and wanted to record an electric version with Jason and Duane Betts, using ‘Mean Old World’ as a vehicle to lay down an epic statement about modern-day roots rock guitar.”

Izzie Walsh - Phonettes - Party Hardly - Elijah James And The Nightmares
Back in March when we first featured Izzie Walsh I described her voice as "gorgeous" and her music "vibrant and pleasing". Today's release of 'Clouded Mind' reassures me that I wasn't overstating matters, as she shares another delicious slice of Americana music.
Amsterdam based singer-songwriter and film composer Daan Hofman has shared 'First delight' under the moniker of Phonettes. The song is hard to define, it's synth pop and yet it's also somewhere between Indie folk and pop, whatever it's original and catchy - that will do!
Party Hardly return to Beehive Candy for a fourth time with 'Rats In The Kitchen' another powered up alt rocker where the band lay out their message in a potent and uncompromising manner.
Elijah James And The Nightmares round off today musical sojourn with a video for 'Movie In Your Eyes'. The Liverpool indie rock band provide a creative musical backdrop and the impassioned vocals are wonderful.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Izzie Walsh - Clouded Mind.
Manchester singer songwriter Izzie Walsh has released her new single Clouded Mind, which is out now via Someone Great/PIAS.
Clouded Mind follows her recent single Sidelined, debut EP The Curse and successful single Take Me Back. With a unique sound that blends country, bluegrass, folk and Americana, Izzie Walsh has built an impressive organic fanbase over the last couple of years. Not only does she have two BCMA Awards and an Indie Week UK award under her belt, Izzie is also a former BBC Introducing Artist of the Week and recently performed on ITV’s Cold Feet.
With honest lyrics and a striking vocal, which are backed by an intricate and rhythmic melody, Clouded Mind is a modern Americana track which builds to an upbeat chorus. The track flits between the feelings of melancholy and hope, which matches the songs meaning of the different emotions and circumstances life can bring. Izzie says;
“This song is a message to say that, whatever your story, you have a chance to clear a ‘clouded’ mind from all the hurt, loss and hardship that life brings. Trust yourself, to know you’ll get stronger."
Izzie has been performing around the world over the last year, including a support slot with Curse of Lono, festival performances at the likes of Dot to Dot and Bluedot and her own sold out headline shows at Manchester’s Deaf Institute and London’s The Slaughtered Lamb. She also runs popular regular open-mic nights at the Bay Horse Tavern and Hatch in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

Phonettes - First Delight.
Phonettes is the project around the songs of Amsterdam based singer-songwriter and film composer Daan Hofman.
About two years ago he started writing material from scratch with only an analog synthesizer, two guitars and a computer. He sings, plays all instruments, and wrote and produced all the tracks of the upcoming EP Algorithm Love.
The songs of Phonettes are shaped by minimalistic beats with dreamy vocal choirs, pickin’ guitars and warm analog synth sounds, even flirting with laid back techno, but preserving the song as its beating heart.
This summer Phonettes is going back in time. New single First Delight is a new-wavish synthpop song, celibrating the spark of youth. On the outer borders of childhood, where we were high on life and restless from everything that was to come.

Party Hardly - Rats In The Kitchen.
Leeds indie outfit Party Hardly launch rousing new anthem Rats In The Kitchen, the second track lifted from forthcoming EP Modern Strife Is Snobbish, dropping later this summer.
Feverishly developing their eclectic style with aggressive punk overtones, the jangly rockers continue to impress with their politically charged output, cutting through their hometown’s fierce DIY scene with aplomb and attracting praise from all corners of the online community (The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, DIY, Dork).
“Rats In The Kitchen is a metaphor for the demonization of young people by the older generation”, states frontman Tom Barr. “Throughout history these views have seldom changed, with the irony being that our grandparents would have viewed our parents in exactly the same light. Also, we had rats in our kitchen this one time”.
Having already supported fellow indie risers The Magic Gang and Trudy and the Romance and gained BBC 6 Music airplay (Steve Lamacq), the foursome are primed to continue their ascent with a slew of live dates in the coming months.
Party Hardly’s Rats in the Kitchen is out 11th July and will be available via all digital platforms.
Live Date: 27th July – Hyde Park Book Club, Leeds.

Elijah James And The Nightmares - Movie In Your Eyes.
Elijah James And The Nightmares are an indie/rock band from Liverpool, UK. Drawing influences from Elliott Smith, Joy Division and Pixies, they burst onto the music scene in May 2017. Stepping on stage for the first time together in front of a capacity crowd to headline popular local venue, District and performing at Liverpool Sound City Festival. Since then the band have created a significant buzz around them, playing to large crowds in major cities all over the country and in September 2017 they also released their debut live EP ‘Live From Elevator Studio’.
Movie In Your Eyes is the bands sophomore single release taken from their upcoming debut double album ‘Because I’m A Giant’ which is due for release in September 2019. The single showcases an impressive sonic orchestral composition, comprising of over 15 different acoustic instruments. Combined, these instruments, along with Elijah James’s signature baritone vocal create a magnificent, intense and epic sound.
‘‘Movie In Your Eyes is a song about lost youth and gentrification. Focussing on the building on or demolishing of our favourite teenage hangouts, those places that contain our youthful ghosts and exist in our nostalgic anecdotes. It was inspired by my experiences of watching the old places I frequented as a teenager being knocked down and turned into modern, soulless, more profitable expansions. This single will be promoted alongside a cool, monochrome music video following the same themes of destruction and loss.’’- Elijah James
Movie In Your Eyes will be supported by a brand new music video. The video’s fresh concept features an overriding theme of skyscrapers and demolition. Set in monochrome, it will flick between concepts of brutalism, gentrification, and change supported by various clips of Elijah James And The Nightmares playing the single live. Like the song itself, it is frantic in parts, and smooth, slick and cinematic in others.

With honest lyrics and a striking vocal, which are backed by an intricate and rhythmic melody, Clouded Mind is a modern Americana track which builds to an upbeat chorus. The track flits between the feelings of melancholy and hope, which matches the songs meaning of the different emotions and circumstances life can bring. Izzie says;
