Eileen Carey - Finally.
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Eileen Carey unleashed her latest romantic single “Finally” in November and follows it up with her breathtaking music video. In creating the music video, Eileen Carey worked alongside her longtime collaborator producer-director Taner Tumkaya. Depicting a journey towards love, the stop motion animated music video is timeless and captivating.
With her single “Finally”, Eileen Carey amplifies those emotions we can’t describe with crystal clarity. “Strong emotions sometimes cry out for strong language,” Carey asserts. “These lyrics state in the plainest possible way what we feel but may be hesitant to say.” “Finally” also follows the international success of her chart-topping single “Meet Me Halfway”, released in May 2019. Both singles continue with Carey’s positive, uplifting musical style as well as her trademark take on love.
Currently, Eileen Carey is excited to share her vision for her single "Finally" with the official music video release. To continue through music, she will also be dazzling on stage with her band alongside Jefferson Starship on February 6th, at The Rose. Be sure to check out her social media for all details on her upcoming performance.
Originally from Ohio, the California-based Eileen Carey has become a staple cross-over artist in various genres such as Country, Pop, and Rock. She has shared the stage with renowned acts such as Wilson Phillips, Don Mclean, Jefferson Starship, Rita Coolidge, The Motels, Albert Lee, Johnny Rivers, Peter Noone, and Tal Bachman.

Certain Animals - Songs To Make You Move.
Songs To Make You Move is the title track of the upcoming debut album by Certain Animals. From beginning to end it's a pounding, steamy rocker that sings about the good things in life. The band chants through the layers of fuzz about things that make life worthwhile for them: (animal) friends, a good glass of jajem at sunrise, sweat stains in your clothes after a killer show, the relief of pain in your bum, but mainly the power of music.
In a polyphonic and catchy chorus, the band emphasizes that whoever you are, or whatever you like, a good piece of music moves you and makes you move mentally and physically. When after two and a half minutes a sound starts that can easily compete with the roar of a concorde taking off, the listener can only move along with it.
Rotterdam based trio Certain Animals serves you melodic rock filled with vocal harmonies. The members aren't afraid to show which records they've been listening to. Musical giants from the 60's and 70's are spinning on their turntable on a daily basis. The Beatles, Beach Boys, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills & Nash and Electric Light Orchestra are regular companions in their musical life, but also the fuzzy and phasey sounds of contemporary bands like Tame Impala influence the music of Certain Animals. Without being stuck in the past and with a critical view on the present, the band brings you their intriguing sound which makes for an energetic live show filled with intimate moments and explosive bursts of energy.
In less then three years, the band managed to build a strong live reputation by playing shows on major Dutch festivals in famous venues all over the country. After having played across the border in Belgium, more international gigs in Germany have been confirmed for spring 2020.
While busy touring, band members Thijs van Leeuwen (vocals, guitars), Niels-Jan van Dijk (bass, vocals) and Kees Braam (drums, vocals) managed to build their own recording studio at a former red light district in the port of Rotterdam. At their home base the trio writes, produces and mixes their music single-handedly, working towards the release of their debut album scheduled for spring 2020.

Kiwi Jr. - Gimme More.
Ahead of the January 17th world-wide release of their highly infectious debut album Football Money, Kiwi Jr. have shared a video for the LP’s "Gimme More."
Of the video the Toronto-based band say, “it was shot mostly at our favourite bar in Toronto - Black Dice Cafe. It's a rockabilly bar and though Kiwi Jr is very unhip to that scene, we tried to pay it justice by wearing leather jackets. We've had probably every band meeting we've ever had at that bar, and the owner Hidecki was nice enough to let us shoot there as long as we didn't break anything (which we did during load in before we even started shooting).” It was directed by Sean Foreman who states, "we wanted the video to feel like it was based off dream logic. Things don’t make sense, the band keeps popping up, rooms are oddly connected somehow, it’s nonsense but at the same time there seems to be some undercurrent of reason guiding things."
Previous to today’s video Kiwi Jr have shared the album’s title track and “Salary Man.” Football Money will be released world-wide via Persona Non Grata Records (following debut EP by Pip Blom). The album had a Canadian release this past March on Mint Records. The album was engineered by Aaron Goldstein, and mixed by Holy Fuck's Graham Walsh. The band have been confirmed to play SXSW in Austin, Texas in March. Before that, they'll head over to the UK for shows in Bristol, Leeds, Manchester and at London's Waiting Room on January 29th 2020.
All natives of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Kiwi Jr. are now based in Toronto and much of their songwriting is informed by the city that surrounds them. They have spent the last 5 years honing their craft both in the studio and live, including opening spots with Wolf Parade, New Pornographers and Alvvays.
Football Money was recreated at high volume on stages across Canada; a dispatch stitched out of fragments, a lustrous twelve-string paint-job unraveling ten book smart tracks in under thirty minutes. A product of two years of labor, a monument to work-life balance, the record is not unattractively scarred by its circumstance: recorded by nightfall in dormant studios, friends and enemies drafted as backup singers and engineers, the LP untidily fuses the yin of work with the yang of life, chronicling a dual-existence, unkempt instrumentalists moonlighting as under compensated administrators by the harsh fluorescent light of day, borne back ceaselessly into the Greater Toronto Area by night.

Green and Glass - Gabriel.
Green and Glass are an avant-pop group from Brooklyn led by harpist and vocalist Lucia Stavros, and flanked by multi-instrumentalist Sam Decker (Secret Sibling), trumpeter Andrew McGovern (High and Mighty Brass Band), drummer David Flaherty (Cuddle Magic), and bassist Ryan Dugre (Landlady). On February 14, the band will release their self-titled debut album on 11A Records. Their latest single, "Gabriel," premieres today at Post-Trash, who've called it "a majestic pop song that soars far beyond this realm."
On Green and Glass, glimmering synth ballads sit alongside powerful rock epics, with Stavros’s forceful vocals providing vitality and soul. With multiple songwriters and an eclectic instrumentation -- harp, synths, and horns set against drums and bass -- the band draws from disparate influences, but keeps melody at the forefront. The horns (played by McGovern and Decker) alternate between sublime and razor-sharp, and amplify the mood of each moment, while harp and synths float high above the drums and bass (played by Flaherty and Dugre) to create a driving orchestral sound. At its core, Green and Glass is a collection of songs both direct and mysterious, simple and complex; a car ride in a dusky town, a dream full of dizzying light.
In a statement to Post-Trash about "Gabriel," the band shares: "'Gabriel' is about a figure that follows you around, absorbing some of what the world throws at you, like a hobbled guardian angel. Slightly mysterious, and always in the peripheral, it depicts an avatar of the mundane and profound. A pastoral epic, with perhaps the broadest scope of any song on the record, Gabriel finds its center in the interwoven guitar and harp ostinato which serves as the base for layers and layers of sound, all moving toward the joyous final chorus which is equally bright and heavy."
"Gabriel" will be available as an instant grat track with pre-orders of the album via Bandcamp. Green and Glass will be released on February 14.

System Corporation - Singer Sargent - No Win - Gothic Tropic - Eileen Carey
System Corporation - Dismal Universal Hiss.
Background - New Zealand’s System Corporation Announce Debut Single 'Dismal Universal Hiss'. New Zealand rock outfit System Corporation are releasing their debut single ‘Dismal Universal Hiss’ well ahead of their debut album ‘Fiction Dept.’, slated for release in late 2017.
System Corporation began in 2011, based on a conversation between Phil Somervell (The Datsuns) and their long standing engineer Scott Newth about swapping demos. The two were sharing a flat in Stockholm while The Datsuns were working on their fifth album ‘Death Rattle Boogie’.
Scott began work on producing the demos, cutting them up, rearranging them, and adding vocals. They became a trio when they enlisted fellow Datsuns’ bandmate Ben Cole (also from The Joint Chiefs) on drums, and then evolved into a five-piece when Scott started working on his own demos for the project, finally enlisting his brothers and bandmates Andrew and Kent Newth (Rumpus Room) to help flesh them out. However, the original trio ended up collaborating on a number of new songs, giving System Corporation two distinct songwriting avenues.
The band’s debut single ‘Dismal Universal Hiss’ could easily have been written about the rise of Trump or Brexit. But it wasn’t – it was written at the time of the Occupy Wall Street movement and the rise of the so-called 99%, mass protests, and rallying against a broken system that creates ill-gotten wealth and sucks it into a vacuum unattainable by the mere masses. Dismal Universal Hiss will be released on April 28 and will be made available via usual online platforms, but can already be ordered through the band’s Bandcamp here. Website here, Facebook here.
Powerful full on guitar rock, with vocals that glide sky high above the roar of 'Dismal Universal Hiss' makes for a fabulous anthem like song. The track packs commitment and emotion, this is one top class debut single.

Singer Sargent - Western Life.
Background - You just know it’s real when you hear his voice, one that comes out of a heart that’s been broken more than once. It’s in the raw soul of a singer with a working man's charm that's not afraid of the fierce intelligence behind life’s pain. Singer/songwriter Tim Sargent’s debut song-cycle is superbly produced by Phillip Peterson (Portugal the Man, Shaprece) and comes out June 2nd on new label House of Breaking Glass.
Working under the banner of Singer Sargent, the songs from An Ordinary Life were lovingly woodshedded on an acoustic guitar at open mic's in Seattle, near a campfire on the beach and sometimes in the near dark.
The songs were then brought to Phillip Peterson. They collaborated and exchanged ideas, tracking and sometimes re-tracking until the groove felt right. Tim played the acoustic and electric guitars. Phillip on bass, cellos, organ, horns & percussion. Andrew Barkau had a beautiful turn at the drums, with the legendary drummer Hal Blaine in the talks leading up to the session. Steve Norman took it in a new direction with his pedal steel, which works deftly on the pop songs. Shane McDonald handled the keys, whose understatements speak volumes.
First single ”Western Life" is an almost verbatim account of a five year span during his twenties, except there was three boys, not "a boy and a girl."
The first of thirteen songs that make up 'An Ordinary Life' is the single 'Western Life'. This is an exceptional album that should appeal to lovers of country & country rock, alt rock and Americana for starters. Or if you just like melodic variety, intelligent lyrics and a stylish engaging singer who is surrounded by excellent musicians and vocal harmonies that make you tingle, this might just become your brand new favourite album.

Eileen Carey - Good Bad Girl.
Background - Award-winning singer-songwriter Eileen Carey recently grabbed music industry headlines when New Music Weekly named her its 2017 Crossover Artist of the Year. Gracefully breaking down the barriers between country and pop, Carey is at it once again as she blurs the line between naughty and nice in her flirtatious feel-good new single "Good Bad Girl."
Having recently starred at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, TN, Eileen Carey is also thrilled with both the immediate and possible long-term effects of her NMW award: “This award is particularly satisfying because it reflects the opinions of the radio music directors, programming, and industry folks. They’re the ones who can make a big difference in your career.”
Eileen Carey continues to post in her new blog, The Music Mom. The Music Mom reveals Carey's desire to positively impact others via the sharing of her experiences and wisdom: “The world is filled with ups and downs, so I want to help people see things in a more positive light and find a better place in life.” The Music Mom here, Facebook here.
Another slice of country music full of pop sensibilities is 'Good Bad Girl'. No wonder the award mentioned above, this is straight and honest popular music that has feel good tattooed all over it.

Four Good Ones: Geowulf - Magic Trick - Eileen Carey - SD3
Geowulf - Saltwater.
Background promo - Burgeoning London independent label 37 Adventures (Jones, Deptford Goth, salute) have added another string to their bow, with the signing of Geowulf - a dream pop duo based between London, Gothenburg and Berlin.
Originally from Noosa, on the Sunshine Coast of Australia, Star and Toma met in their teens. Despite both her parents being musicians, Star only found her voice 3 years ago - the pair naturally joined forces and have written together ever since.
Channelling sweet sounds reminiscent of Beach House, Mazzy Star and Lana Del Rey, Geowulf's debut offering 'Saltwater' is a sinuous and melodic pop single; a bright and uplifting introduction to a band we're going to be hearing much more from.
The single features on the forthcoming 37 Adventures label compilation 'Odd Numbers Volume 1', which is due for release on 5th August and showcases new and select cuts from the label's brilliant roster. Geowulf is Star Kendrick (vocals) and Toma Banjanin (guitar/production).
'Saltwater' is a really beautiful beach pop song. Melodic, dreamy and for me a song, I know I will play again, almost from the opening notes. The above references to other artists make sense, however there is plenty of room for Geowulf, when the music is this good.

Magic Trick - More.
Background - Empty Cellar is proud to release the newest album by Magic Trick, Other Man’s Blues. This offering from the band finds songwriter, Tim Cohen at a crossroads. It was written and recorded during a year that split his time between two lives, in two worlds. The newer of these was on a horse ranch in the northern Arizona desert where he and his partner spent their first year with their newborn daughter. The second of these two was the music world. The latter took place on the road, on tour with Magic Trick or with the Fresh & Onlys. And in the case of Other Man’s Blues, it took place for one week at Phil Manley’s Lucky Cat Studios in San Francisco.
Tim arrived at the studio with a colour-coded composition book of songs he’d been writing while bouncing to and fro. This book would have to suffice in lieu of rehearsal time with the 13 other musicians who appear on the tracks. About half of the tracks feature James Kim on drums, the other half James Barone (Beach House). Alicia Van Heuvel (Aislers Set) and Paul Garcia split time on bass. Joel Robinow (Once and Future Band / Danny James) contributes on keys. Emmett Kelly (The Cairo Gang / The Muggers) provides a couple stunning guitar solos. There are omnipresent vocal harmonies from Alicia, Noelle Cahill and Anna Hillburg, the latter of whom also plays some trumpet. San Francisco standbys Dylan Edrich, Tom Heyman, and Marc Capelle all contribute. It was a loose, largely improvised affair.
The album’s roster is less the product of grand ambition, and more the result of an open-door policy at the studio. These sessions also served as an opportunity for Tim to hang out with friends while in town. He’d see who was around, they’d swing by. Allegedly tequila was centrally involved. A “hit the joint and come up with a bit” approach. “Here’s a chord chart. Go.” And guest appearances are more than just a little icing on top here. It’s the principle that warranted giving this project a band name five years ago: when Tim’s non-onlys oeuvre stopped being credited to Tim Cohen and instead was attributed to Magic Trick. Especially in the case of Other Man’s Blues, the players on the album define what shapes these songs take. Magic Trick - Other Man's Blues [Empty Cellar] Release Date: Aug. 26, 2016.
'More' is the only song I have heard from the forthcoming album, and it's an absolute tease, leaving me impatiently waiting to hear more (pun intended). Seriously this is a superb track with wonderful choir like harmonies, within a beautifully crafted song.

Eileen Carey - In The Air.
Background - Proving that love is more inspiring than hate, award-winning country star Eileen Carey has countered recent terrorist attacks, racial violence, and global turmoil with “In the Air,” her feel-good ode to the City of Love, Paris, France. Credited by music blog Country Music, ATK with “blending pop, country, and rock in a way that feels uniquely hers,” Carey was recently named the 2016 National Radio Hits Favorite Female Country Artist of the Year and New Music Weekly’s Country Breakthrough Artist of the Year. “In the Air” features champagne, limousines, movie stars, and, of course, love. "In the Air" is the first single from Carey’s fifth studio album, produced by Travis Allen Childress and set for release later this fall.
According to Carey, “In the Air” is a heartfelt tribute to Paris, the city she visited two weeks before terrorists killed 130 people there in November of 2015:
“Paris is such a whirlwind of love, romance, and excitement that the terrorist attacks there felt personal to me. I had just visited the City of Love two weeks before. It inspired me to write a love song for two people set in the gaiety that is still Paris, a kind of victory for the spirit of love.”
Having recently made her third consecutive appearance at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Carey’s “Bottle Your Crazy Up” reached #1 nationally in 2015, where it competed with major-label country performers. Carey’s three released singles are from Let It Go, her most successful album to date. Carey won The Academia Music Awards Best Country/Rock Song of the Year for “Bottle Your Crazy Up.” Akadamia.com called Carey’s composition and performance “a clever country jam with dulcet vocals and superb instrumentation, illustrating one of the most stringent performance standards we've encountered.”
'In The Air' may be a heartfelt tribute, however it's no sentimental dirge. Rather it is a bright and breezy song that seemingly celebrates the romance of Paris, as many feel the city to have. More "pop that rocks" than country, it's a pleasing and catchy track.

SD3 - All That I Want.
Background - SD3, the Los Angeles based synth-pop group, wants you to dance all night, drive faster while you sing along and, most importantly, have fun. And their music demands the same results.
SD3’s much-anticipated new single “All That I Want” is available now on all digital outlets.
With its combination of bittersweet lyrics and buoyant rhythms, “All That I Want” reminds us that we all have a shot at getting that one great love back. “It’s about the moment in a relationship when things get too comfortable,” shares the band. “It’s all being held up by memory, and you either fight to get it back, or you let it go. This song is about the desire to fight.”
Influenced heavily by the music of the 80s, SD3 exhibits a refreshing, hopeful innocence and pop purity that’s impossible not love.
“This is not music of rebellion,” declares the band. “This is music of acceptance, a place where everyone is invited. The door is open and we’d love to have you.”
I have been receiving some rather good synth pop songs in recent months, and 'All That I Want' can happily join the collection. Another melodic song that's full of hooks and really well produced, it lifts the spirit and sometimes that's all you need.
