T. Hardy Morris - Bandicoot - Good Morning TV - Doctor Lo

T. Hardy Morris - Shopping Center Sunsets.

T. Hardy Morris is set to return with The Digital Age of Rome on June 25th via the New West Records imprint Normaltown Records. The 10-song set was produced by Adam Landry (Deer Tick, Rayland Baxter) and mixed by engineer Nate Nelson. It follows the Diamond Rugs and Dead Confederate member’s 2018 acclaimed Dude, The Obscure.

After touring Dude, The Obscure, Morris had 13 new songs demoed for a new album. He was excited to get his band together to rehearse the songs before hunkering down in the studio to record...then the pandemic hit. Sequestered at his Athens, GA home with his family, Morris, like most everyone else in the past year, mulled over what was truly important to him and in response, crafted an entirely new set of songs. Enlisting a group of musicians including Drive-By Truckers drummer Brad Morgan, singer-songwriter Faye Webster and many others, Morris pulled no punches with his mesmerizing lyrics and hazy brand of southern glam rock.

Looking directly inward and captivated by the sobering realities of the pandemic, Morris has composed one of his most personal works yet. He tackles the well-worn anxieties of the past year as pandemic and political divisions ravaged America. The Digital Age of Rome is more direct than Morris has ever been and is one of his boldest records yet. Unapologetic and brutally honest, it is a necessary diary for an uncomfortable time that continues to unfold.

Morris remains Athens, Georgia’s foremost purveyor of dynamic rock-and-roll-songwriting and his blend of poetic southern outlaw storytelling is delivered in a haunting vocal howl. The sonic energy and raw emotion in his music captures the same call to adventure that helped launch other Athens-born bands (including R.E.M., B-52’s, Vic Chesnutt, The Drive-By Truckers, The Elephant 6 Collective, Pylon, and The Glands before him) and put the artsy college town on the map. Drive-By Truckers co-founder Patterson Hood described Morris’ songwriting as, “distilling that subtle truth down to its very essence and expressing it in a way that cuts through the bullshit...I was immediately blown away.

Bandicoot - Worried Blues.

For Bandicoot "Worried Blues inhabits a world of paranoia, born from a fear of lost love. It carries you down labyrinthine streets like a nightmarish memory, with a contagious strutting rhythm which never lets you stop moving along with it.”

Never missing a beat or taking time to catch their breath Bandicoot are back with a new and impressive single.

‘Worried Blues’ starts with forceful piano chords and an anguished emotional vocal from Rhys Underdown, channeling John Lennon’s Plastic Ono Band primal scream as a voice from the dark. When ‘Worried Blues’ intro releases into a riff full of Talking Heads strutting art rock/ dance punk directness it leaves no doubt, Bandicoot are ‘The Sound of Young Wales!’.

Good Morning TV - Entertainment.

Good Morning TV started in 2016 with a first self titled EP, released by pop diggers Requiem pour un Twister, that managed to echo until miles away from their homeland, France.

At the time a solo adventure of Bérénice Deloire, the project progressively became a band as Barth Bouveret (producer for both the EP and the album), Thibault Picot (Brace! Brace!) and Hugo Dupuis joined their forces, guided by mutual harmony.

After two years of writing together, the quartet isolated itself in a peaceful home of the south of France in order to achieve their first album 'Small Talk' to be released on Géographie Recs (Marble Arch, Paper Tapes, Born Idiot). 'Small Talk' is born in this rough temporary studio, that rather resembled a weird laboratory.

Its singular material, along with a contemporary production that both enhance a bold songwriting are casually passed by familiar choruses. With this record, Good Morning TV paints a melancholic portrait of daily disillusions and claims its own vision of pop, somewhere between Broadcast, Deerhoof or The Olivia Tremor Control.

Doctor Lo - Claiborne Avenue.

Doctor Lo (Faber), formerly of celebrated jam band God Street Wine, shared the title track from his upcoming folk/Americana-leaning LP Claiborne Avenue last Friday. Faber is set to celebrate the release with a limited run of live shows, including a sold-out performance at Albany, NY's The Hollow on June 18 (full dates below).

June 18 - The Hollow - Albany, NY
June 20 - Gabe-Gate - Sussex, NJ
June 22 - The Tap Shack - Duck, NC
June 23 - The Tap Shack - Duck, NC (two nights!)

Doctor Lo Faber’s music exudes the warmth, grit, and enchantment of New Orleans — a city he’s called home for the past decade. A listen to “Claiborne Avenue,” the title track off his new album, reveals a number of specific NOLA settings: there’s the obvious, the street for which the song is named, as well as the iconic Magazine Street. There’s also a hat tip of sorts to The Neville Brothers, with a reference to the “Pocky Way beat;” and it name-checks Louis Armstrong, Mr. Bienville (Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville, the “Father of New Orleans”), and Mr. Claude Tremé (for whom the Tremé neighborhood of NOLA is named).

If it sounds a bit like a history lesson in song, well, it is. And this historical focus is fitting, given that Dr. Faber (or Doctor Lo, as he’s known in the music world) has his Ph. D. in American History, is a former history professor, and published a book about New Orleans in 2013 entitled Building the Land of Dreams. “Some of the songs are united by being my experience of living here in New Orleans for about nine years now,” Lo explains. And while he notes that his music “is not New Orleans-y,” one can’t help but almost instantly feel transported to the Crescent City while listening to it.

Seemingly a product of the pandemic – said track speaks of the “tourists [who] left without a trace” – Claiborne Avenue (the song and the album) is both observational and introspective at once. It sees Doctor Lo reflecting on the past through a nostalgic lens with a hint of regret (“I broke the rules and I paid the cost / You know nothing comes free”), and the refrain “Who knows what you might catch in the air” takes on more meanings the longer you listen.

Lucy Grubb - Bandicoot - Claire Whitehead

Lucy Grubb - You Don't Do Anything.

Norfolk-born songwriter Lucy Grubb is excited to announce the release of her long awaited third EP ‘Waste My Time’ due for release this summer - 4th June 2021, including first single ‘You Don’t Do Anything’ out now.

Known for blending of modern Americana with Country undertones, Lucy has built a prestigious reputation with the release of two previous EPs. 2017’s debut ‘18 Miles’ was named Best UK EP of the Year by country website Belles & Gals, followed by second EP ‘Dear Walter’ receiving a 5* review from Maverick Magazine.

After years of honing her skills at UK festivals such as Glastonbury, Red Rooster and Latitude, Lucy most recently headlined The Den Stage at Cambridge Folk Festival to a ‘rapturous reception’ - Nic Rigby, BBC News. Lucy has also showcased at 2020’s AmericanaFest UK and was set to perform at the renowned Country2Country Festival at the O2 London in March, which has now been postponed until 2022.

Recording began in late 2019 in a countryside recording studio in North Norfolk; a home from home for the band, also doubling as their rehearsal studio. Subsequent recording sessions resumed in pockets of lockdown freedom throughout 2020, with the process becoming flexible and adaptive, and comprised of many ‘band zoom calls’ using the treacherous countryside broadband.

“When we started this process I wasn’t sure what to expect at the end of it. Now I can quite confidently say that these songs sound like me, and they sound like my band, and it is my sound. At 23 I know I have plenty more to learn, and my music will change as I grow, but these songs are a product of the last year of my life.” Lucy Grubb

The tracks on Waste My Time explore elements of relationships with ourselves and others, opening with the title track representing the strength and resilience shown by friends facing difficult times and being OK with not being in control of everything. You Don’t Do Anything takes the EP to another level musically with almost tongue in cheek ode to Lucy’s beloved Country music. The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, closing track When It Rains is a raw and openly emotional song; and despite its undeniable focus on sadness, it also shows it is perfectly normal to feel that way and one day you will get out of it.

Claire Whitehead - No Right Way, Louise.

Canadian folk-country songstress Claire Whitehead whisks listeners on a journey with her latest project, Thelma: A Country Opera — available now! And if the name sounds familiar, it should… Built through interpretation of the character Thelma of Thelma & Louise, Whitehead has churned a fable into a nine-track release about the fearlessness of the human spirit — including album closer, “No Right Way, Louise.”

“Thelma: A Country Opera is a ‘coming-of-agency’ story,” Whitehead explains. “It’s about the transformation of self and relationships when someone becomes disillusioned with the rules of our world.” As a storyteller, Whitehead commiserates with the protagonist through a series of emotion-driven songs that speak to Thelma’s internal journey, and the album’s live performance features video clips from the film to cue songs.

For its part, “No Right Way, Louise” chronicles Thelma’s ongoing dedication to her best friend. Whitehead’s delicate but piercing vocals churn out a near-plea to Louise as our heroine succumbs to the inevitability of failure to live a life of restraints, and rules. “And they’ll chase us down,” Whitehead coos, “And they’ll spit from a truck. So hand me that gun, cuz i’m I'm all out of luck.”

To tie the song together, Whitehead has self-produced a subsequent music video — a first in her lengthy career. “To make this video, I tried to celebrate the song’s theme of prioritizing female relationships, while working under the constraints of the pandemic,” Whitehead reveals. “This was the first official music video I’ve made, or released, and I did it completely DIY on camera phones and editing on my laptop.

“I was lucky enough to have my sister, Anne, to film the footage and a friend and vocalist from London Ontario, Imogen Wasse, who sings live with me and fosters a lot of positive energy in our performances. “The result has me feeling comfortable being silly on camera, while capturing the power of women working creatively together to make great things.”

For this track and album, Whitehead’s transfixing vocals, well-established melodic harmonies, authentic country twang with the truth bleeding in between the lines transports the listener into an entirely different place and time. “No Right Way, Louise” has Thelma declaring the final lessons of her journey, celebrating friendship, love, and resistance to the wrongs of our world. A multi-instrumentalist and veteran songwriter, where the album shines is Whitehead’s power to transcend you into the character’s story. Whitehead urges you to let go of reality for just a moment, while you walk Thelma’s path with her.

And as her journey unravels track by track, Whitehead grants the listener permission to read the finest print of detail on the most sacred part of a woman’s heart — her spirit. Whitehead’s ability to fully immerse herself into the arms of Thelma’s character and expose her layers far beyond what the silver screen wanted us to watch, is a testimony to this songstress’ uncanny ability to transform into whomever she needs to be to get the song right.

Sally Robinson - Kele Fleming - Bandicoot - Jessica Pearson and the East Wind - Kat Eaton - Wild Powwers

Sally Robinson - Moonlit Skies.

Sally Robinson is a third year Commercial Music student at Bath Spa University who has quite literally reached the stratosphere with her new double A single.

This relatively unknown artist who creates delicate haunting folk music wanted to see how far her voice can travel, so sent her songs to inspirational scientists around the world. Astronaut Scott Kelly was taken aback by her beautiful track ‘Moonlit Skies’ and beamed it up to be heard in space on the International Space Station!

‘Moonlit Skies’ is a love letter to Mars and includes samples of the first recordings from NASA’s Mars Perseverance Rover’s on-board microphone. So, whilst listening to the track, you can also hear the actual rover on another planet! The track comes from a series of four otherworldly double A-side singles set to be released taking inspiration from the four elements in science: Air, Earth, Fire and Water.

‘Moonlit Skies’ is joined by ‘Leaves In The Light’ to make up the ‘Air’ duo which explore themes of space, movement and hope and sound like the missing link between Vashti Bunyan, This Is The Kit, Tiny Ruins and David Bowie’s Space Oddity.

The series seeks to empower people to engage and have conversations with people they wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to speak to, promoting awareness of environmental concerns. “I try to make everything I do as sustainable as possible, and the entirety of this project will be carbon neutral”, says Sally. “This project grew from my love for science and astronomy, and my interest in hearing the individual stories behind each listener. I love the idea of being heard in remote and unusual locations, particularly after being in lockdown, so I set myself a challenge of seeing how far away I could be heard”, she adds.

Based in Cardiff, studying remotely currently in Bath, but with her roots in Cornwall, Sally is an independent artist pushing boundaries. Passionate about the Earth her inspiration comes through art, sculpture and nature with her music being compared to Laura Marling, Joni Mitchell and The Staves.

Each of Sally’s forthcoming releases will be sent to unusual locations that connect to the element of which they represent. For Air, she has sent tracks to space and weather scientists, and polar research facilities. For Earth, she is sending them to facilitators and protectors of deserts and rainforests; for Fire, she will be sending tracks to volcanoes, and for Water, she is focusing on scientific research ships. So far, as well as the International Space station, Sally’s beautifying music has been played at polar research facilities in the Arctic, in Svalbard, and Antarctica, on Adelaide Island.

The tracks are each being released on significant days too, with the first double A single available on the first day of British Summer Time, 28th March, also a full moon.

Kele Fleming - Compassion Machine.

Is the world getting to you? Are you longing for more connection? Do you relate more to social media vs social interface? If the answer was “yes,” grab your preferred device, cut through the chaos, and tune into Canadian singer/songwriter Kele Fleming’s new single, “Compassion Machine” — available now!

Spanning a runtime of four-minutes-ten-seconds, “Compassion Machine” is an exposing commentary on our technological dependency, and its role as a mechanism of coping with reality.

The allaying melody of the single's instrumentation is an entendre to Kele (pronounced “Kelly”) Fleming’s subversive lyrics; her vocals are both congenial and alluring while, at the same time, furthering the single’s cautionary parable in a cleverly ironic way.

These sentiments resonate with truth in the lyrics, “I bow to a new god, all shiny, bright, and oh so sleek.”

When considering the underlying message of “Compassion Machine”, the Vancouver-born, Victoria-based artist says this anthemic song is “meant to bring the listener a sense of release from the modern alienation of our dependency on technology as a replacement for connection with life.”

Having been recorded prior to the social restrictions brought about by COVID-19, she elaborates by adding, “this song took on an entirely new meaning for me in the pandemic, as technology has also been a salve for me and has given me the gift of human connection despite distance.”

The foundation for “Compassion Machine” was built around metaphors from recognizing her own dependency, she admits. When commenting on the musical composition, she makes apparent the guitar’s celtic tone, as well as the bass, which soothingly answers the call to the chorus’s vocal melody. The clapping, heard towards the middle, strips the song to its core, effectively drawing the listener’s focus towards the vocals before its big crescendo.

“Compassion Machine” is the second single (following “Vanishing of Bees”) from her fourth album, The Song I’ll Write For My Whole Life. Written and sung by Fleming, she provides the guitar heard on the single. She is accompanied by Ron Yamauchi on piano, Aaron Troy on bass and Tony Lee on drums.

The single, as well as the album, was recorded live off the floor at Vancouver’s Warehouse Studio with Juno-recognized engineer and producer, Sheldon Zaharko of Zed Productions. The  recording was assisted by Nick Civero and Annie Kennedy. Mastering was handled by Andrew Spindor at Railtown Mastering.

Bandicoot - FUZZY.

Bandicoot’s description of their new single FUZZY perfectly incapsulates its timeless, joyful energy ... “FUZZY is a deranged attempt at seduction which draws on 70s ‘Top of the Pops’, glam rock and memories of misguided adolescence.”

Following hot on the heels of the bands successful debut single on Libertino ‘Dark Too Long’, FUZZY shares DTL infatuation with the decade where you cycled to catch your dreams on your trusted ‘chopper bike’ and ‘glittered teenage anthems filled the airwaves as much as your imagination’.

With FUZZY Bandicoot are Gene Vincent’s lustful, greasy-haired, leather-jacketed rebellion channelled through Bolan and the New York Dolls infectious boogie. As they sing FUZZY is their Vitamin C, now let FUZZY be yours!

According to Bandicoot “FUZZY is a strutting statement of intent, fizzing with energy, rolling relentlessly on. It captures the energy that we’re bursting with, cooped up in our homes, awaiting the return to the stage. And a triumphant, ferocious return it will be”

Jessica Pearson and the East Wind - Broken By You.

Jessica Pearson is a Canadian born storyteller with a voice like melting honey on a summer’s eve. Accompanied by Maddy O’Regan on the fiddle, they bring to life tales of the past and express the beauty and heartbreak of the world today.

In life we have many different relationships; family, friends, co workers, partners. Most of these relationships are good, healthy, and help you grow as a person. But sometimes we end up in relationships that take away our voice, who we are and we become a shell of who we used to be.

Jessica Pearson and the East Wind’s new single, “Broken By You,” is all about taking your voice back, being done with the pain and realizing that you can choose to stay in this place of hurt, or leave and find joy.

Kat Eaton - Slow It Down.

Today, March 31st, London/Sheffield-based blues/soul artist Kat Eaton announces her debut album ‘Talk To Me’ due July 2nd and shares ‘Slow It Down’ the sultry and brass-infused new single taken from the upcoming album.

Speaking on the track Kat says, “'Slow It Down' started with Nick  (Atkinson) and I talking about a dream that we both share: when you're driving from the back seat of a car and you can't see where you're going. I have it whenever I feel like my life is out of control and going way too fast. We wanted to write a song that encapsulates this feeling of watching your life go by in a blur and wishing you could switch to slo-mo just for a second so you can appreciate the present moment.”

Whereas some debut albums show artists still finding their feet and sonic direction, Kat is unashamedly bold & confident in her abilities as a vocalist and songwriter, effortlessly merging Soul, and classic R&B throughout a mature and well rounded 10 tracks. Utilising completely live instrumentation (a must for Kat), ‘Talk To Me’ takes the classic vintage sound of inspirations such as Barbara Lynn and Lesley Gore and updates it with contemporary embellishments and relatable lyrics for the 21st century.

As well as her powerhouse vocals, Kat’s songwriting is also adept, tackling delicate and topical issue such as mental health (on title track ‘Talk To Me’), modern love (on the powerful ‘Put Yourself In My Arms’) and drunk dialling an ex on ‘Checking In’.

Kat Eaton has steadily been making a name for herself over the last few years in the UK, as well as overseas. Originally discovered through BBC Introducing, Kat's singles ‘Giving It Up’ and ‘The Joker’ earned her strong support from BBC Radio 2, Robert Elms and Gaby Roslin on BBC Radio London, as well as BBC Introducing in Sheffield. 'The Joker' was also play-listed at BBC Radio London and NPO Radio 2 in Holland.

Having already toured the UK/EU supporting various artists (Jools Holland, Marc Broussard, The Teskey Brothers, Mama’s Gun), selling out multiple headlines shows in London, co-writing with the likes of Ruby Turner, Caro Emerald and Andy Platts (Mama’s Gun/Young Gun Silver Fox) and breaking through to new territories via the national radio airwaves of Holland and Belgium, Kat has established herself as one of the hardest working and talented performers in her field.

Kat met long time collaborator & now partner Nick Atkinson at just 15 in Sheffield, a city that had a profound impact on Kat & Nick’s musical identity, with its rich lineage of working class musicians influencing the pair massively. Although Kat is very much the face of the project, behind the scenes Nick contributes with co-writing & production credits for the whole record, making the album very much a collaborative effort between them both.

Less an artist in ascendancy, ‘Talk To Me’ solidifies Kat’s place as an artist already at the top of their game and now ready to share the fruits of years of hard work to the world.

Wild Powwers - Decades.

Wild Powwers recently announced their upcoming What You Wanted LP for Nadeline Records. Their new album will be out on April 23rd, but you can check out the Ron Harrell-directed video for their new single now (see KEXP premiere), and download/stream the album below for review purposes....

"The typically ferocious trio have softened up their grunge-inspired sound for the third single off their forthcoming record, What You Wanted." says KEXP of the new single, adding "While drummer Lupe Flores keeps the song moving with a quick-paced, driving beat, Lara Hilgemann’s vocals are toned down significantly, with her signature growl only making a short appearance about ¾ of the way through the song and the majority of the song led by a gentle croon of empathetic lyrics."

Wild Powwers are a dynamic trio who come from the dark, dank corners of a basement in Seattle, WA. Throughout their several years relentlessly writing and touring as a band, they have grown their sound using the vastly different influences in their lives.

They are often challenging themselves to write something completely different from the song before, and their upcoming album “What You Wanted” is the best representation of who they are and what they bring to the table yet. Produced by Sam Bell, (R.E.M., Minus the Bear, Weezer, Taylor Swift), and mastered by Ed Brooks, (Pearl Jam, Death Cab For Cutie, R.E.M.), "What You Wanted" runs the gamut from straight up punk rock ("Real Deal Phil" and "Pageant") to strangely beautiful psychedelia ("Tricky and "Chrome). Cathartic angular rock (“Sucks”) intersects with gorgeous, shimmering melancholy (“Decades”) and the many melodic shades in between. Showing a wide array of influences skillfully blended into a sound all their own; this album is a beautiful journey. Honest, raw, and relatable - it's "What You Wanted."

Bandicoot - The BluesBones - Leahy - Anthony Steller

Bandicoot - Dark Too Long.

Reclaiming for a new generation the poetry of Dylan, the stark beauty and unhinged Rock and Roll of mid-70s John Cale, and Badfinger's melancholic timeless songcraft, this is Bandicoot. Their sound flows like post-industrial blues through Swansea's rain-soaked concrete streets.

Bandicoot have earned a ferocious reputation, thanks to their raucous, overflowing live shows that spin euphorically from post-punk and krautrock to glam stomp and art-pop sensuality at the drop of a note.

‘Dark Too Long’ is Bandicoot‘s debut single on Libertino, a song they describe as a “frenzied cry of desperation from the depths of excess and loneliness, influenced by the driving rhythms of NEU! and Can.”

"Bandicoot are wired instinctively to the cathartic screams of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band, the lustful danger of The Velvet Underground, and CAN's cinematic propulsion. They are the art-house provocateurs of Warhol's Factory brought to life on Swansea's rainy streets" - Libertino

The BluesBones - Sealed Souls.

We just wanted to share with you this new lyric video. This song is taken from our latest "Live On Stage" Album.

The song "Sealed Souls" deals with the madness of War. Sometimes a song is just a little more then just a song.

Sometimes a song is also a message. And Sealed Souls is this kind of song. About the insanity of war and all the suffering it brings. Sometimes images speak louder then words. But combine Lyrics, Music and images and maybe it becomes even more powerfull!!

The BluesBones is a band of 5 passioned and experienced musicians, playing blues/rock with undiminished feeling and skill. Their original songs vary from blues rock over mellow and sensitive blues ballads, swampy slide to more heavy rock. This extended range of styles generated a diverse fanbase in Europe and beyond.

The band, formed in 2011, released its debut album in 2012 and was elected public's favorite at the Belgian Blues Challenge the same year. The band was declared winner of the same contest in 2016 and finished 2nd out of 26 countries at the European Blues Challenge in Horsens/Denmark in 2017. The BluesBones played over 400 shows all over Europe and performed at festivals like Blues Peer festival, Ribs & Blues festival, Moulin Blues, Swing Wespelaar festival, Scinawski Blues Festival, Cahors Blues Festival, Breda Jazz, Randers Blues Festival, Blues‘n Jazz Rallye, …

The BluesBones had the pleasure to share the stage, be support act or jam with artists like King King, Jimmy Vaughan, Seasick Steve, Tommy Castro, Guy Forsyth, Laurence Jones, Danny Bryant, The Nimmo Brothers, Jimmy Thackery, Dan Patlansky, …

Leahy - Tears.

Canadian band Leahy’s brand new album, Good Water, brings the five women of the group – Leahy sisters Julie, Erin, Maria, Siobheann, and Denise – freshly to the fore, in singing and especially songwriting, along with brother Frank on drums, and introduces the newest addition to the band, Xavier, son of Frank, on accordion.

As the songs on Good Water took shape, a new edge to the band’s sound began to emerge with the addition of electric guitars which spurred them on to explore the outer edges of their traditional/Celtic/folk/roots musical origins, pushing well beyond that footing.

The record’s latest single, “Tears,” is another colour and sensibility in Leahy’s music journey. It reflects the fact that the band members are influenced by so many different genres and this comes out in different ways. Here is a nod to a rock style – with a very heartfelt deep lyric. It’s a beautiful contrast that is not soft and not hard – it’s grounded which is consistent with their sound over the years.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anthony Steller - In The Story To Be.

Since my sophomore year high school, I’ve been single-handedly writing and producing original music in my garage studio. What started out as a few singles evolved into a fully polished album. I am inspired by classic rock legends of the 1960s and 70s such as The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, The Moody Blues, The Small Faces, and The Rolling Stones.

I intend to bring sounds from these unforgettable decades back into the spotlight in the next few years. My plans are to start my own band after high school and continue to create and perform new music in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

The Album: "In The Story To Be" is a rock concept album that represents my personal story of struggles in a way that aims to connect and relate to people that listen to it. The album consists of songs about false hopes and miseries, all the way to uplifting songs about learning how to live strong once again. Part of the reason I wrote some of the songs I did was to replace the music I grew up to love because at a point in my life, I was scarred by heartbreak and couldn’t listen to them without feeling sorrowful.

I aim for my music to connect to those moving through their own darkness so I can give hope for what is to come for everyone’s future no matter where they are or what they are going through. All guitars, percussion, keys, and vocals were proudly recorded on my own, and the tracks were all mixed and mastered by myself. Would love it if you could take a listen!!

Red Sun Radio - GEA - Samantha Margret - Bandicoot

Red Sun Radio - Dry Martini.

Your favorite Brooklyn gentlemen have donned suits and returned with a love song for the acid lounge. The gin-soaked single "Dry Martini" goes down easy, stirred with a blend of reverb-addled guitars, candlelit-drums, and sultry vocals

"Dry Martini" conjures forlorn feelings of a love so close you can taste it, and yet so irresistibly out of reach -- "Far beyond the horizon you'll find / a never ending lie / to hold on to."

Dry Martini gently drifts into view, the vocals exude some late night bluesy emotion, the music is restrained yet somehow ups the intensity of the piece. Red Sun Radio may be new to our ears however the song feels like an old friend, one to share a few drinks with, maybe Gin, although I'll settle for some Bourbon or a large single malt Scotch.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GEA - Truth Between the Lies.

Helsinki-based ethereal storyteller GEA has announced the release of her haunting, timely new single/music video "Truth Between the Lies", out February 12 via Fragity Records. GEA's powerful lyrics encourage us to seek out the truth, especially when it's not easy to do so. With what's happening in the world right now, the timing of this release is not a coincidence. Musically, "Truth Between the Lies" is ominous, electro-infused dream pop with touches of menace and beauty.

When I wrote this song I had no idea how relevant this message would be now, when it is being released. We can't pretend that constant lying wouldn't have a profound impact on our society and souls. Truth is an absolute necessity. Truth will set us free!

Truth Between the Lies is a song about the bad things we do when we think no one is watching. It's about the lifestyle where people close their eyes about immoral things, and think they'll get away with them.  It's about the dangerous sense of comfort and false sense of safety we get from money, career and consumption. It's about our planet not being able to carry the weight of our choices any more. It's about everyone's soul mission wanting to be manifested instead of focusing on doing what brings the easiest income. It's about the truth running eternally through our veins no matter how much we would benefit from the lie.

The stunning animated music video for "Truth Between the Lies" is brought to life by BYNEW (Producer) and Raimi Nikkari (Animator).

Samantha Margret - Mine / Negative Space.

Samantha Margret writes music for the girl who wants to own her history, her body, and her feelings. Samantha likes big jewelry and every kind of fruit she’s ever tasted, and she’s a conscientious journaler. Her ballads tell stories about acceptance and showcase her soulful voice, and her pop songs are not afraid of a good time. She tries to never write the same song twice, and is always up for a giggle.

Samantha gets her second first name from her great grandmother. Margret was born with a second “a” in her name, but she gave it up after falling in love with a traveling salesman who had only seven letters in his name. Did she want them to match? Did he dislike the letter “a”? Three generations later, Samantha was born on the same day and given the same name with the same odd spelling. As she grew up in San Francisco, struggling to convince teachers she was spelling her name correctly, Samantha took to poetry and songwriting. She learned by copying Sara Bareilles songs on the piano at school, and by writing songs instead of going outside. Did the gift of a missing “a” lead to the wordplay Samantha uses in her music to this day? Probably not, but who can really say?

Her compelling EP delivers powerful vocals with a passionate and sentimental look into her past with love. The melancholic ballad "Mine" revels in the revisit of heartbreak and betrayal, while “Negative Space” delves deep into the absence of someone you love with the mixture of sweetness, pain, and nostalgia.

"Everything has two sides—every great personality trait comes with a few bad habits, every good feeling eventually gives way to an equal opposite; that's what I believe. And, every holiday has space for celebration and sadness. This EP is my gift to people who want to settle into Valentine's day with a little heartbreak this year." - Samantha Margret
