Maria Matveeva & Deep Forest - French For Rabbits - Post Lovers - Slum Summer

Maria Matveeva & Deep Forest - Kalinushka.

Soprano opera singer Maria Matveeva together with well-known French Grammy-award-winning composer and producer Eric Mouquet aka Deep Forest shared their latest single “Kalinushka” this week, to be taken from their upcoming collaborative three-track EP titled "Siberian Trilogy Project" set for release on the 21st December. In addition to her career as a lyric soprano in the Opera, Matveeva has experimented various musical genres. She is always on top of her game - and in the past she has collaborated with notable musicians such as David Bowie’s pianist, Mike Garson, notable for working with the likes of Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, Alessandro Alessandroni Jr and Alex Elena, just to name a few. Matveeva’s latest delivery, "Siberian Trilogy Project" is an experiment with an innovative musical idea, which fused different styles: lyric voice, electronic sounds and the ethnic elements.

Since 1992, Deep Forest has been dubbed as pioneers of “ethnic electronica”, mixing ethnic with electronic sounds and dance beats or chillout beats. Nominated for a Grammy Award in 1994 for Best World Music Album, and in 1995 he won the Award for the album Boheme. Deep Forest also became World Music Awards Winner - French group with the highest 1995 world sales. Their albums have sold over 10 million copies to date, and has since toured the world extensively. Since then, Deep Forest has still been going strong, collaborating with dozens of similarly like-minded artists and working closely with label giants Sony and Epic, respectively.

Her pallette of influences come from artists such as current collaborators Deep Forest, Michael Cretu (Enigma), Mike Oldfield and Lisa Gerrard (Dead Can Dance), although her experimental twists and turns, and sonic vocal delivery could compare her best to artists such as Enya, Sarah Brightman or Sinead O’Connor for her theatrics in vocal technique and dramatic stage presence.

Maria’s latest single from her collaborative project with Deep Forest is a flawless mix of traditional folkloric sounds and contemporary electronic production, fused together to create a sound both unique and mesmerising. Beginning with layers of Maria’s vocals, showcasing her virtuosity as well as her passion for vocal texture, the track then progresses hypnotically, riding on Deep Forest’s downtempo beats and melodic electronic basslines. “Kalinushka” will have listeners humming along to Maria’s choral and folkloric melodies in no time, while their bodies will not be able to escape the urge to move to Deep Forest’s crisp drum-beats. MARIA MATVEEVA, DEEP FOREST.

I was not sure what to make of 'Kalinushka' at first, but it was different in a good kind of way so I stuck with it. I was quickly more than intrigued, this is addictive material, as the subtle electronic backdrop and charismatic singing combine to become oh so moreish.

French For Rabbits - Highest Hill.

Oxford, MS label Muscle Beach Records are announcing the release of New Zealand’s French For Rabbits’ The Weight of Melted Snow on January 19th, 2019, along with the new track “Highest Hill.”

Written as an exercise on transposing a fictional, yet very real, complex emotional desire to hold love while also desiring to hurt the person and how those past traumas play themselves out in new situations,“Highest Hill” follows this experience through it’s winding, uncomfortable path. French For Rabbits’ lead singer Brooke Singer explains that "writing music is a bit of a mystery process…the words seem to proceed without any logical thought process, so once I write something I often have to go back and re-listen to understand what I’ve just written about!

The verses of Highest Hill kind of play out like a movie scene – they’re quite visual. The song formed around a fascination with the way people can hold conflicting emotions at the same time, and how messy that can be. I was exploring this character who wanted to make the person they love, hurt. It’s kind of about blame - whether that blame is misguided or not."

Led by the soft, smoky voiced Singer, French for Rabbits have been pioneers of atmospheric, delicate dream-pop in New Zealand since 2012. Now Wellington based, the band started out as duo in the small coastal township of Waikuku Beach and have since received international acclaim for their emotionally evocative music. Having toured with Agnes Obel in Europe and Lorde in their native New Zealand, 2019 will see the band hitting the U.S. for the first time with a tour around their official SXSW showcases (Dates TBA) WEBSITE.

'Highest Hill' is soft, melodic and full of emotion. A gentle rhythm, soothing vocals and musical arrangement that builds by a few layers into a rich accompaniment give this piece real charm.

Post Lovers - Tiger.

Post Lovers, the Athens-based act of songwriter and vocalist Eleni Karageorgou are excited to announce the release of their self-titled debut album, due out on December 10th via Inner Ear and share the album's first single "Tiger". It follows 2017 debut 7" single "Melbourne/Going Anyway".

Post Lovers play short indie folk tunes, blending a-bit-too personal songwriting with playful backing vocals, all set in a 90's background. In their debut self-titled album Karageorgou generously shares her thoughts with the listener providing a resounding female answer to the male-dominated contemporary songwriting. 13 songs succeed one another naturally without revealing their full potential at once.  Masterly crafted tunes, fragile memories and feelings have been transformed into songs that deal with the savagery of love, family and human nature. The album was recorded in the spring of 2018 at Suono studio and was produced by Coti K.

"Post Lovers debut LP is music and comments made throughout the lifetime of a cat named Rouga. "Tiger" is a storytelling song about a psychologically distressed river." - Eleni Karageorgou

The musicians contributing in Post Lovers are:Stavros Georgiopoulos – bass, vocals, Danae Eco – keys, percussion, vocals, Danae Palaka - drums, Nikos Tselios – electric guitar, vocals, Eleni Karageorgou – acoustic guitar, electric guitar, keys, vocals. FACEBOOK.

The musicians on 'Tiger' are refined and subtly provide an appealing and quite engaging backdrop for the stylish and individual vocals that give even more to this beautiful song.

Slum Summer - Trampoline.

Slum Summer is a San Diego based indie rock/pop band, formed in 2016 by two British and two American musicians. A special relationship: a special new band.

Hugh J Noble (guitar/vocals) grew up in the village of Wymeswold in England where he played drums in an early incarnation of The Wave Pictures (Moshi Moshi Records), before moving on to writing and recording his own songs, self-releasing several records and touring in the UK and USA under various names, pretending to be a band but always lacking the get up and go to actually form one. On moving to San Diego, he decided to get up and go and actually do it at last, and set about the laborious and occasionally terrifying process of weeding through all the weirdos on Craigslist to find the closest thing to normal that was out there: Slum Summer! DJ Anderson on drums, Jen Edwards on guitar, and Scotland’s own Grant Stewart on bass, all occasionally joining in on backing vocals when they’re feeling extra boisterous.

The band was drawn together by their overlapping areas of musical influence, and their relationship deepened as they developed their mutual love for taking long drinks breaks when they’re supposed to be rehearsing. In two uncharacteristic bursts of decisiveness, they whittled down Hugh’s list of 318 suggested band names to decide on Slum Summer, then pared down the almost 318 songs he had written to the handful which make up this, their debut album.

The band self-recorded "ABABO" over a weekend at San Diego’s Ursa Polaris studio, with some extra recording done at different members’ homes over the following weeks. The album is a fair representation of Slum Summer’s musical interests, with the band utilizing different approaches to underpin Noble’s abstruse story-telling lyrics, thick with obscure references. Across the record you can hear them drawing from the same headwaters that fed the alternate-reality pop hits of Alien Lanes-era Guided By Voices, the slack romanticism of Pavement, the headlong rush of Boyracer, the noisy melodicism of The Clean and their Dunedin cohort, and the brooding folk- and classic-rock inflected works of Jason Molina. You may also detect knowingly inexact attempts to reach at different times for both the menacing crunch of early Black Sabbath and the tender balladry of Jackson Browne. FACEBOOK.

'Trampoline' is a vibrant indie rocker with distinctive vocals that certainly add a British feel to this trans-Atlantic band. It's fresh, catchy and with a hint of quirkiness hard to resist.

Wild Child - Sands

Wild Child - 1996 (E.P).

Yesterday Austin, TX's Wild Child released a surprise EP titled 1996 that includes three brand new songs. The EP arrives as the band kicks off their headline tour that will make stops in Boston, Philadelphia, New York and many more.

"We probably had 20 songs in consideration for our fourth LP Expectations and these songs didn’t seem to fit in the final sequencing but we still really liked them," said co-frontman Alexander Beggins. "'1996' was one of the first tracks we recorded for Expectations with Scott McMicken up at Mt. Slippery back in the summer of 2017. We recorded a full version of the song one day, woke up and scrapped it the next day and started working on a new version messing around with drum machines and midi toys. We now play a hybrid version live. "Best Lay" and "Hold On, Hold You" were recorded in our hometown in Austin, TX with the ever talented Adrian Quesada. We work really well and quick together and ended up recording 6 or 7 songs with him for the record. We had a really fun day in the studio trying to figure out who can sing the lowest on 'Hold On, Hold You.'"

The 1996 EP release follows the band's best-selling album to date Expectations released earlier this year on Dualtone Records. For Expectations, the band traveled across the world to work with multiple producers (and accomplished musicians in their own right) on the album, including Chris Walla (formerly Death Cab For Cutie), Chris Boosahda (Shakey Graves), Scott McMicken (Dr. Dog), Max Frost and Adrian Quesada (Brownout, Black Pumas). The album has been warmly received by fans, and has seen Wild Child achieve their strongest radio play yet, with lead single “Think It Over” reaching #15 on AAA. The band’s best selling record to date has also led to 1.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and over 75 Million aggregate streams and counting on the service for their entire catalog. Current tour dates and more on their WEBSITE.

We have the video for 'Hold On, Hold You' along with the E.P. which adds the tracks '1996' and 'Best Lay' which is useful as all three songs are very different affairs. Always melodic and full of gorgeous hooks, whether a little feisty are just plain romantic, this is a beautiful E.P.

Sands - Burning Man.

London-local songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sands will be releasing his brand new double A-side single, ‘Tomorrow’s Gone’ / ‘Burning Man’, on November 30, via Spaghetti Sounds. Composed, produced and performed by Sands himself, the single follows on from his sophomore EP “Waves Calling”. Sands has already received extensive support from tastemaker publications.

Over the years Sands has worked with producer, engineer and mixer Brett Shaw (Florence and the Machine, Foals, Daughter); Jonas Verwijnen, who did indispensable mixing work for Moon Duo; and Martin Glover aka Youth, famed for his collaborations with Killing Joke, The Verve, Paul McCartney, The Cult, The Orb, Echo And The Bunnymen, Primal Scream and many others.

The mastermind behind the Sands project, Andrew Sands, is based in London. Sands began playing from a young age, but maintains that it was really his discovery of records that inspired him to make music, as well as his experimentation with a variety of different instruments. Starting with drums, Sands soon found, in guitar, his main songwriting tool, then at a later stage, the keyboard and synths too. With Sands’ multi-instrumentalism and skill in sound engineering, as well as his range of influences, it’s no wonder that this talented musician has worked within many different genres.

On the double A-side single, Sands comments, “‘Burning Man’ is something I had for quite some time, basically I was just waiting for the right moment to put it out, and this seemed a good match,” and goes on to explain, "’Tomorrow's Gone’ is on my latest EP - ‘Waves Calling’ - it's a new wave/electronic track. This version was the original demo. I went more 60's psychedelic, and thought it was good enough to be mixed and put out just leaving it like that, quite bare and mantra-like till the end crescendo. I think here lies the soul of the song.” WEBSITE.

One half of the double A Side 'Burning Man' is a well crafted and expansive aural delight. Beyond the production it's also a fabulous mixture of musical ideas, where psychedelic vibes, synths and acoustic instrumentation, and hypnotic vocals (and voices) combine to create a hard to resist song.

Lusterlit - Erin K - The Fame - Kazyak

Lusterlit - Meat Cake.

Meat Cake is the new double-A-sided single of Lusterlit songs inspired by comic book artist and author Dame Darcy's series of the same name, and written for her Bushwick Book Club event with Brooklyn Book Festival. Lusterlit were so inspired by her renaissance-mermaid royalty that they immediately started planning a Lusterlit record.

The relentless indie drive of "Wax Wolf" and the chamber/hip-hop epic "Cutting" are now available at Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music and on blue vinyl, courtesy of Brooklynphono!

These helpings of deep hooks and vivid storytelling feature the duos dark cinematic blend of spiraling vocals over acoustic/electric landscapes of vintage beatboxes, swirling guitars, keyboards and brutal drums.

Lusterlit produces Bushwick Book Club (founded in 2009), the international performance series featuring songwriters and performers of all kinds, putting on regular shows featuring new music, art and snacks inspired by a chosen work of literature. Lusterlit formed to perform and present the songs they have written for Bushwick Book Club as fully produced recordings, alternating lead vocals and harmonies while supporting each other on guitar, bass, piano, synth, traditional Korean drum, accordion and more. WEBSITE.

The new single 'Meat Cake' comprises of 'Wax Wolf' and 'Cutting', and helps explain my attraction to the duos music (this being their fourth feature). The sharing of lead vocal duty in itself ensures a level of variety, however it goes deeper than that, their knack for enticing musical hooks, and the intrigue that the lyrics always provide are key. Add in the choice of instrumentation and the whole combination is always fresh. Enough praise, they have a book club to run...

Erin K - Happiness.

Berlin based, American born musician Erin K is excited to announce the release of new single Happiness, taken from upcoming album I Need Sound due for release early 2019. The album features a beautiful mix of IndieFolk / Retro-Pop sounds and is the follow up to successful debut album Little Torch (over 3m Spotify streams), released last year.

Happiness explores the titles theme personified in the form of a character on a journey; who tries to connect to different individuals along the way and become disheartened as each encounter cannot engage with his emotion. The video explores the themes of liberation and rebirth. Filmed in West Cork, Ireland the video is inspired by the aos sí; celtic folklore of fairies and forest spirits; and was the second time Erin K had collaborated with director Nathan Erasmus having worked together on the video for 'Assholio' previously which aired at the Oscar and Bafta recognised Animated Encounters film festival, IndieCork; 2018 Fastnet Film Festival in Schull as well as winning the audience award for best short at the Small Axe Radical Film Festival too.

With songwriting influences including Jaymay, Lily Allen and Kate Nash, Erin is known for her fearless and original lyrics. Her mainly autobiographical songs are sometimes inspired by strange and uncomfortable events; often with a lighthearted portrayal of a harmful or weighted experience. The songs on the album are delivered with light-hearted humor and wit, showcasing a vast range of songwriting topics; from heartache… to toothache!

Erin describes Happiness as a song “that explores the theme of happiness personified in the form of a character on a journey. He tries to connect with different individuals along the way and becomes disheartened as each, for different reasons, cannot engage with his emotion. A boy, for example “who you can tell loves his band, ‘cause they all look so alike”, refuses him in favour of his own darker emotions that contribute to his creativity. In another moment, he is rejected by a girl unable to let go of the sorrow around a death for fear of losing the memories attached. In a nutshell, it’s a story narrating the complexities around perceived simple emotions, like happiness, and our ability or refusal to engage with them.” FACEBOOK.

'Happiness' is intrinsically catchy and stylish from start to finish. The lyrics add more, the video is totally aligned to the songs theme, in all this suggests that the early 2019 album release will be quite something.

The Fame - Wide Awake.

The Fame ask the question (and go on to answer it) What do you see when you look in the mirror?

“Wide Awake,” our debut single, focuses on the topic of self-reflection and the happenings of everyday life.

While crafting the song, we collectively drew from personal life experience  and our rock music inspirations to create something that anyone can relate to.

“Wide Awake” is the first single to be shared from our upcoming debut EP. Produced by Brian Moncarz (Our Lady Peace, Moneen, Circa Survive), the EP is set for release in early 2019. WEBSITE.

Notable alt rocker 'Wide Awake' mixes superb (and just right for rock) vocals with solid backing harmonies and a feisty and powerful musical backdrop. It's one of those songs that stands out for all the right rock and roll reasons.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kazyak - 10,000 Flowers.

10,000 Flowers is an album-closing, shoegazey mood-piece that explores the idea that one might handle things differently if given the chance. The song’s simplest message is about letting go, and the first and last line are perfect bookends for the wider story. In the first line, Frey shows angsty vulnerability and admission of fault with, ‘I may not have regrets but I might do it different.’ And the closing line, ’When are you going to let 10,000 Flowers bloom?’ can be paraphrased by asking when will you let go?

Kazyak is an indie rock band based in the Twin Cities. The band has recorded 2 EPs (1 unreleased)  and an LP (unreleased) and finds it's source in a deep pool of experimental music. The live lineup  includes: Peter Frey (guitar), Andy Wolfe (guitar), Pat Hayes (synth, piano), Tyler Safranek  (bass),  and Nick Grewe (drums).

The band finds its source in a deep pool of midwestern music, drawing on the abstract side of Bob  Dylan's songwriting and lofty sonic architecture from the likes of 12 Rods, Fat Kid Wednesdays,  Tiki Obmar, and Halloween, Alaska. The group has shared the stage with many, including LA indie  rockers the Local Natives and Duluth-based Trampled by Turtles, and continues to collaborate  closely with Minneapolis-based engineer/drummer Brett Bullion.

'10,000 Flowers' softly opens with a gentle melodic feel and some distinctive and pleasing vocals. Some beautiful acoustic guitar and subtle swirling synths add even more to this intimate yet atmospheric song.

Silverbacks - Anna Karenina

Silverbacks - Just In The Band.

Irish art punks Silverbacks delve into themes of false idolatry and deeper connection in their latest track ‘Just In The Band’ out now on PK Miami.

Produced by Daniel Fox from fellow Dubliners Girl Band, 'Just In The Band' carries the same nagging unease as previous single 'Dunkirk' with taut drums and unrelenting bass underpinning seasick guitar arps and Daniel O’Kelly’s blunt commentary on the ‘problems down the back’. Feedback soaked and frazzled, it sees the band step further away from their indie roots and more into the groove - if the groove covered itself in petrol and dared you to light the match.

Silverbacks are a thrilling prospect, delivering their own louche take on NYC-indebted rock: slack enough for the tastemakers while also mining the gems of a pop vein, catching the ears of those with a taste for a good hook. Now a full-fledged five piece after graduating from the bedroom project of songwriting brothers Kilian and Daniel O’Kelly, they ply their trade with as much emphasis on the dry humour running through Daniel’s lyrics as the propulsive, triple guitar-led onslaught in their music. TWITTER.

Upcoming Irish shows:
December 1st: Other Voices 2018, Dingle (Hennessy Music Trail)
December 8th: Whelans, Dublin.

We shared 'Dunkirk' back in June and the new single 'Just In The Band' is another feisty rocker. The vocals have a splendid punk feel to them, the driving guitars add some melody, and collectively this is a hook fuelled beast of a song.

Anna Karenina - Acting and Reacting (mini album).

Anna Karenina is now releasing a mini album called Acting And Reacting, following up her debut album Brain Ghosts and Goosebumps released in 2015.This time she’s looking out towards society, away from her brain ghosts.

Wondering how you can best fit in your role as a daughter, friend, lover, employee, “an adult” and a woman. How society makes you play your determined role, in both good and bad. The title Acting and Reacting is referring to the spectacle that is life, playing the roles that’s expected of you. These are songs about being a sensitive person in a world that’s whirling.

Co-producers to this record are Ida Lindberg (Me and Skinny Joon) and Willie Alin (Dean Allen Foyd, Music Is The Weapon). The three of them have been producing partly together and partly in pairs with the intention of getting different styles in the production.

While Ida and Anna-Karins work is thoroughly and carefully produced, Willie is more hands-on and together they make the perfect dynamic trio, creating a sound of Kate Bush-inspired art pop cross-bred with psychedelic rock. WEBSITE.

Comprising of six tracks 'Acting and Reacting' really is a feast of high quality art pop / rock that explores different ideas with assured confidence. There are no passengers here, every song is a packed full of creativity, so much so that calling the collection a mini epic, seems like something of an understatement.

Blue Child Collective - Roxy Rawson - Polartropica

Blue Child Collective - Eye Of The Needle feat. Sol.

4 years on and 4 records down, South West fluid groovers Blue Child Collective are set to take their newest offering, Wake Up To The Sound, around the country as a 5-piece on an 11 date national tour this summer. Out yesterday (November 23), the album's current single Eye Of The Needle (featuring Sol from Band of Frequencies) is the finest example to date of the Collective's feel-good roots with a touch of reggae.

The product of positive collaboration between frontman Dan White, Kiwi darling Emjay Angeni, sax man Lindsay Baker and many musicians from the wider Collective, Wake Up To The Sound is an album spanning countries, cultures and communities.

Featuring Bobby Alu on drums/percussion, Ken Allars (Caravana Sun) on trumpet/keys, OJ Newcomb (Band Of Frequencies/THUMP) on bass and Angela Iimura on BV’s, plus special features from Sol Carroll (Band Of Frequencies/Afro Dizzi Act) on vocals and Taro Terahara on bansuri, the album is truly a collective effort exemplifying what can be achieved through human connection.

Captured at Yama-Nui Studio on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast by PaulieB (The Beautiful Girls/Bobby Alu/George), Wake Up To The Sound is a sonic journey in which the magic of the location can be heard - from thunderstorms to singing tropical birdlife - yet will transport listeners far beyond their own backyard.

With singles Wattle Tree Corroboree, Dive and the title track Wake Up To The Sound attracting widespread airplay through 2018, including spins on triple j’s Roots N All, the Collective received a well-earned nomination for West Australian Music’s Best Regional Act. WEBSITE.

'Eye Of The Needle' mixes a funky musical backdrop which includes something of a reggae vibe to it, with some distinct and fabulous vocals. It's polished, upbeat and oozes charm.

Roxy Rawson - The Good Shepherd.

Roxy Rawson is set to release her full-length debut album ‘Quenching the Kill’ - out 30th November. Gamboling somewhere close to the ‘Anti-Folk’ category by way of a manipulated punk-y violin and plush multi-layered constructions, leftfield chanteuse Roxy Rawson has enjoyed a cult presence on the Parisian and London music scenes. Now based in San Francisco Bay and ready to release her full length debut, Roxy is an artist whose flair for the unconventional demands the World’s attention.

A period of ill health forced Roxy to take an extended musical hiatus over the past few years, ‘Quenching the Kill’ is Roxy’s triumphant reintroduction to the music scene and an endearing aperture into an ascending artist losing life as she knew it, transitioning into recovery and ultimately regaining hope. The “strives for authenticity in the face of muted creativity” says Roxy “in an industry where emotional vulnerability is often supplanted by commercialized sentiment”.

Quenching the Kill hits striking form with its apt synthesis of rawness and sophistication. Behind mild unexpected arrangements often lurks rampant urgency, enrapturing the listener with Roxy’s PreRaphaelite vocals habitually blending with sudden Spektor-esque snap-along oscillations.

From the lonely rustic loops of ‘Black Eyed Soup’ to the percussively plucky delivery of ‘Rounded Sound’ , even seemingly downbeat ballads like ‘Iron Shoes’ take an unforeseen uplifting twist - all showcasing Roxy’s playground of musical creation, painting wistful melodies which often provide a veil to solemn subject matters. Roxy teamed up with producer and friend Ben Lamdin whose characteristic analogue production has also seen him produce for the likes of Lizzy Parks, Alice Russell, Josa Peit and Jamie Cullum. FACEBOOK.

'The Good Shepherd' is one of ten tracks on the new 'Quenching To Kill' album. Such is the variety found on the new album the featured song highlights only part of Roxy Rawson's musical sophistication. Sometimes a little quirky, other times sincere and moving or mischievous or even mysterious, Roxy explores musical styles, with so many ideas, that this really is a fabulous albeit musical roller coaster of an album.

Polartropica - Wild Lyfe.

The new video from whimsical space pop/psych artist Polartropica is entitled ‘Wild Lyfe’. The single features dreamesque soundscapes, playful instrumentation and ethereal vocals. The eccentric visuals narrate how we are all the same underneath our facade and that we need to treat all creatures with kindness and respect.

Polartropica is the music endeavor of Los Angeles based, whimsical space-pop artist, Ihui (eeway) Cherise Wu. Born in Taiwan yet raised in California, Wu successfully combines quirky pop melodies, futuristic synths and classical string arrangements, creating a genre of bubblegum psychedelia that you’ve never heard before.

Polartropica derived after Wu heard a song which couldn’t be defined by a genre - ‘Polartropic’ by Mark Foster. Admiring  the contrast between both ‘polar’ and ‘tropical’, Wu decided to formulate a place where things can exist where they don’t belong. Polartropica fuses elements of complete opposites together with the outcome resulting in a unique, ethereal sound that defies all sonic worlds. Using both organic and synthetic instruments, Wu conceived a visionary dream world for listeners to escape to. Wu professes, “I wanted to create a healing, inspiring and empowering space with just the right amount of disco-party!"

Integrating 90's pop, classical arrangements and intergalactic space-pop, Polartropica is guaranteed to feed your imagination, with their eccentric and distinguished sound. WEBSITE.

The music is sublimely gorgeous as layers of crystal clear synths and an intriguing rhythmic arrangement support the lush enticing vocals making 'Wild Lyfe' a joy to listen to.

Moderate Rebels - Thyla - ElectroBluesSociety feat Boo Boo Davis - Stephen Kellogg

Moderate Rebels - The Value Of Shares.

London-based “anti-music” collective Moderate Rebels’ second album ‘Shared Values’ is like a lot of their music so far – it happened almost by accident. “We went into the studio with a couple of songs to record an EP, and we ended up with an album-length EP. We like to just let things happen and for songs to mostly write themselves. It’s a case of mucking around and seeing what feels right and what doesn’t. We say it all the time, but it’s important to note – we don’t intend anything. We don’t feel like ‘artists’ with grand statements to make.

“We view ourselves as just passing on ideas or questions, which we also enjoy expressing in condensed and concise terms. We think we’re all living in an era when lots of people feel they have lots of questions (perhaps that’s every era?) and we seem to touch upon that. Doubt, uncertainty, vague language, conflicting information and opinions – these are all inspirations. To us, being ‘anti-music’ is about valuing exciting ideas over technical ability. There’s nothing better for a Moderate Rebels song than a bunch of questions that us and others are grappling with. We don’t believe in easy answers, but we believe in asking lots of questions – always.”

Moderate Rebels say they used certain mottos again to develop the ideas for this new album -  less chords and words – vague and direct, complicated but simple – and tracks on the album would seem to indicate that.

‘The Value Of Shares’  touches on modern life turning virtual and full of substitutes. ‘Stranded In Brazil’ is a song of confusion about the modern environment via Terry Gilliam, ‘Faith & Science’ seems to illustrate the inspirational feelings of unanswerable questions and the healthy consequences of a position of doubt, as opposed to the ‘I’m 100% right’ attitude that is feeling increasingly common in certain areas of life in 2018. And so on...

Moderate Rebels released their first single ’God Sent Us’ in late 2016, then the 5-song ‘Proxy’ EP & debut album ‘The Sound Of Security’ in 2017. The ‘Shared Values’ album includes 2018’s singles ‘Beyond Hidden Words’, ‘I Love Today’ and latest song, ‘Faith & Science’. Moderate Rebels ‘Shared Values’ album, will be released 30th Nov 2018 on Everyday Life Recordings. TWITTER.

Regulars to Beehive Candy may well recall that Moderate Rebels have consistently impressed me with their music releases over the past year or so and finally their second album 'Shared Values' is about to land, accompanied just ahead of the release by another track from the collection entitled 'The Value Of Shares'.

The first of ten songs on the new album 'The Value Of Shares' is our fourth share (if you excuse the pun) from the new collection and once again, showcases their minimalists lyrics and hypnotic musical style. Despite their unique and readily identifiable sound, the pace and arrangements regularly vary across the album and the hooks are in constant free flow. I remain very impressed!

Thyla - Blue.

Brighton post-punk experts Thyla share accomplished new offering Blue, the second adrenaline-fuelled release taken from the band’s eagerly anticipated debut EP What’s On Your Mind out 1st February.

Tipped for big things from the very start of the year, the four-piece found themselves spotlighted amongst NME’s 100 Essential Acts for 2018, and have fast solidified their status as one of the UK’s finest emerging indie acts with a slew of support slots alongside the likes of Slaves, Sunflower Bean, and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever.

Buzzing across the airwaves (BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, KCRW) and summoning praise from all corners of the press (Pitchfork, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, DIY), the rising rockers’ latest release underlines the captivating vocals and majestic lyricism of frontwoman Millie Duthie, with their rich, anthemic quality adding to the growing excitement surrounding the outfit.

Discussing their upcoming release, the quartet stated: “The lyrics came from a similar place to the themes and ideas found in many of our other songs. Blue as in, I got the blues, hones in on the rapid and unstoppable rate of change in the way we interact with people. Blue as in, the colour of the Twitter and Facebook interface, makes for an ironic double entendre. The things making us sad, is the colour of sad, “I’m blue” is both the cause and the symptom!” WEBSITE.

Our fifth feature for Brighton's Thyla this time with new song 'Blue'. It's opens as a thumping rocker before acquiring a little more refinement as the vocals kick in. A mixture of melodic moments and unashamed full on post punk, once again the band stand out in style.

ElectroBluesSociety feat Boo Boo Davis - Tell Me.

For this recording ElectroBluesSociety went back to basics and teamed up with Mississippi blues man Boo Boo Davis.

Together they revisited classic Chicago blues and recorded seven songs. These will all be released as singles during the coming months.

For Boo Boo this was also a trip down to memory lane; this Howlin Wolf song was regular in the Davis Brothers Band repertoire during the 18 years that they were the weekend house band in Tabby’s Red Room, a famous juke joint in East St Louis. WEBSITE.

More natural blues that Electro this rendition of 'Tell Me' features some incredible harmonica playing, pure blues vocals and an overall vibe that is just plain addictive.

Stephen Kellogg - High Highs, Low Lows.

Stephen Kellogg releases Objects in the Mirror today Friday, November 23. Produced by fellow Americana singer-songwriter Will Hoge, the 12-track set was recorded over the course of a single week in Nashville, TN and tracked live with minimal overdubs. “I wanted to make an album that sounded and felt like the ones I grew up loving," says Kellogg. "Bob Seger and Cat Stevens, Tom Petty and Rod Stewart. Emotional records where the songs relate to each other and the lyrics are front and center.”

Ahead of release, Rolling Stone Country praises, “...Objects in the Mirror captures the talent, spontaneity and humanity of Kellogg’s songwriting and presents it in a soulful, folk-rock packaging that is refreshingly free of pretense and studio polishing,” adding that single “High Highs, Low Lows” “unfolds like John Prine fronting the Heartbreakers.” Proving to be a standout from the album, American Songwriter describes the nostalgic track as “a slowly building folk anthem with chiming piano, gentle pedal steel and a raw, vulnerable vocal performance from Kellogg.”

Among the album’s many underlying themes of nostalgia, family, hope, and hard work, is Kellogg's unwavering respect for the influential women of his life—from his four young daughters (to whom he relays a series of tear-jerking fatherly sentiments in “Song For Daughters”) to his beloved late-Grandmother (immortalized in a beautifully nostalgic soundbite at the title track’s opening) to his wife of 16 years (the subject of his latest single “Love Of My Life”). The Boot recently premiered "Love Of My Life," and the track was later named one of Rolling Stone Country’s “10 Best Country & Americana Songs of the Week.” In an interview with Noisetrade earlier this week, Kellogg divulged that he channeled inspiration from a 1946 Gibson Southern Jumbo guitar to finish the version of the song heard on Objects in the Mirror.

“We were in [Chicago Music Exchange] before the place opened and there was one guitar and one guitar only on a stand in a room of hundreds of guitars,” he explains. “I picked it up and started strumming and it just felt and sounded so perfect...Suddenly the lyrics and melodies that had been missing seemed to be there waiting for me. I know it sounds kind of new age or whatever, but that’s how it goes sometimes. A guitar has a song in it.” Kellogg goes on to share that he traded three of his guitars for the Gibson and left the next day to record Objects in the Mirror in Nashville. Objects in the Mirror will be available everywhere digitally and on vinyl via the Kellogg Family Store.

'High Highs, Low Lows' gently opens with some fine guitar playing and the natural and instinctively Americana vocals. The musical arrangement gradually expands, as this timeless sounding song subtly appeals on so many levels.

Van Bellman - Mirny Mine

Van Bellman - Gold & Blue.

The new single from gritty indie pop artist is entitled ‘Gold & Blue’, the single is a story of hope, faith and companionship in a world of turmoil and distractions. Showcasing infectious melodies, soaring gang vocals and driving drums that all build into an anthemic chorus, 'Gold & Blue' fills you with optimism, a fitting yin to the dark first single’s yang.

Van Bellman is the brainchild of Brooklyn-based musician Zac Taylor. You may have seen him playing guitar on TV with multi-platinum band American Authors, or perhaps carrying your luggage at the Gansevoort Hotel on Park Avenue a few years back. And maybe you didn’t hear, but he doesn’t shine shoes anymore. Instead, Taylor has been cultivating this new project and is now ready to present it to the world. An eclectic mix of bluesy rock and indie pop, Van Bellman’s music was written with purpose.

The second single “Gold & Blue” is a story of hope, faith and companionship in a world of turmoil and distractions. "I like that it’s a bit concrete and a bit abstract as far as what the colors or themes could represent,” confides Taylor. "For me, it’s a hopeful message of sticking together through bitter trials and tribulations, cutting through the noise of the modern world to really listen to someone.” Showcasing infectious melodies, soaring gang vocals and driving drums that all build into an anthemic chorus, “Gold & Blue” fills you with optimism, a fitting yin to the dark first single’s yang.

The NYC music scene has shaped Taylor into a respected collaborator, hired gun, and songwriter. Van Bellman is the byproduct of all of these experiences. You have no patience for a whole record. No one does. So the Van Bellman tunes are coming at you one by one. TWITTER

Striking, melodic and overflowing with resplendent hooks 'Gold & Blue' is an impressive indie pop song, that has one of those sing along choruses that is just so infectious.

Mirny Mine - Dream / The Other Part.

Mirny Mine's debut album 'The Other Part' is a cinematic journey into the darker parts of dream pop, which is very suitable now, while the fall begins to get its hooks into us. Annas dark voice leads us through shoegazey bits where you hear both parts of sixties pop and new wave. Sometimes, you get a whiff of a more gothic Lana Del Ray just to be replaced by the spirit of English new wave queen Danielle Dax.

But all with a distinctive own sound and expression. It is not strange that Mirny Mine's music is cinematic because Anna Sundström, the woman behind the name, is already an established photo artist/photographer. And the desolate and barren parts in the music has obviously taken inspiration from Annas home island Gotland.

Beside photography, the multi-instrumentalist Anna  (she plays almost everything on this album) has always played music and finally, she had put together a collection of songs that she felt were ready to share with everyone. We are very pleased that she chose Novoton to do it because we have always enjoyed Annas music a lot and are convinced that this is the first step on a long journey with much more amazing music.  BANDCAMP.

Two songs from the new Mirny Mine album 'Dream' and the title track 'The Other Part' which between them give a good feel for this intriguing collection of songs. Brooding and expansive the album is a mixture of slow shadowy dream pop that combines with elements of Goth Rock and well crafted and layered sounds. The overall effect is both moving and thought provoking as the music impacts on your own imagination and emotions.

Rosie Carney - Louise Lemón - The Thin Cherries

Rosie Carney - Zoey.

Irish singer-songwriter Rosie Carney’s brand new single, “Zoey” is now available. The song follows the recent release of “Orchid” and “Thousand" (feat. Lisa Hannigan) which have collectively been streamed over 3 million times on Spotify since September. The tracks will appear on Carney’s highly anticipated, deeply personal debut album, Bare, which comes out January 25 via Akira Records.

With her full-length debut still to come, Carney’s music has already been streamed over 18 million times, and she currently has over 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Of “Zoey” specifically, Carney says, “Every time we pulled the project up I would just call it the ‘Zoey Deschanel’ song. It was a joke at first, only because the song painted scenes of a rainy-day romance in my head. I kept seeing the final scenes of 500 Days of Summer in a loop, and I just remember feeling so melancholy, which is a feeling I quite enjoy. I wanted to make it feel like a warm blanket for people to hide under whilst listening.

The long-awaited Bare is the product of personal struggles Carney endured while navigating a rapid rise in the music industry at a young age. Discovered and signed to Universal Music’s Polydor at the age of 16, she fought to assert herself creatively within a large commercial system—facing pressure to co-write and even change her name—while simultaneously grappling with depression, anxiety and an eating disorder borne from personal trauma. By 18 she was dropped by the label without ever releasing a song, and ultimately left the major label system entirely. Throughout it all, the one constant has been her songwriting, which is both cathartic and empowering.

Carney was born in Hampshire, England and at 10 years old moved to Donegal on the northwest coast of Ireland. Inspired by the rugged and picturesque landscapes of her new home, she began writing music. In 2013 she received widespread attention with a performance on Ireland’s leading live music TV series “Other Voices.” That same year she played London’s Bushstock, the first of many high profile festival billings including Latitude in the U.K., Electric Picnic in Ireland, Seven Layers in Amsterdam and SXSW in Austin. She recently supported Haux on a 28-date tour of 12 countries, including the U.S. and Canada, and is currently on tour in the U.K. and Europe. TWITTER.

We are now into double figures in terms of how many times we have featured Rosie Carney on Beehive Candy. 'Zoey' is yet another beautiful song, with a delicate soothing vibe, the occasional background harmonies are sublime, the album is just weeks away.

Louise Lemón - Not Enough.

Following on from last year’s critically praised debut album ‘Purge’, Louise Lemón returns with new single ‘Not Enough’ taken from her highly anticipated new album A Broken Heart Is An Open Heart due for release in March 2019. The Swedish ‘Death gospel’ artist’s jaw-dropping vocals are backed by delicate piano, reverb drenched percussion on the new track, building to a climax with fuzz-drenched guitars and pounding drums. On the subject matter of the song, Louise tells us that "Not Enough is a song about staying in a relationship that you know already ended. When you're in something so destructive but still just can't let go."

Experimenting with instrumentation and production since her last full-length, Lemón is a rejuvenated presence on her new album, taking cues from the 60s and 70s psych-rock and soul era to influence her songwriting, channelling the sultry vibes of the early Fleetwood Mac-era. Louise will showcase the new material live with shows lined up at Eurosonic and Roadburn Festivals, along with a European tour with Sólstafir.

Produced and mixed alongside regular collaborator Randall Dunn (Sunn O)))/Myrkur/Chelsea Wolfe) in Copenhagen and New York, the record was exclusively recorded using vintage microphones and amplifiers to create the most organic sound, with each track recorded live in the studio.

Speaking about the new album, Louise added, “I wanted to make it this album both darker and brighter. We've used far cleaner sounds than ever before, concentrating on creating darkness in new ways. The songwriting has been very focused. I’ve evolved as a woman and with my writing I’ve explored new feelings, going further and deeper in to the ways I’ve felt and the situations life's brought me to. It was such a blessing to be able to work with my band so closely, they are very much a part of the soundscape and we couldn’t be happier to have had Randall Dunn produce it.” WEBSITE.

Following on from the song 'Cross' which we shared back in October Louis Lemon is back with 'Not Enough'. The Death Gospel description remains relevant and saves me from trying to think up another expression for this expansive and alluring music.

The Thin Cherries - On Moose Island (album).

Chicago’s The Thin Cherries, which features members of The Luck of Eden Hall, The Streets on Fire, Belmondos and Phenomenal Cat, have dropped their sophomore album On Moose Island.

The Thin Cherries on Moose Island, incorporate elements of baroque rock, synth pop, shoegaze and folk. The Thin Cherries is the newest musical project founded by scene vets Steven Delisi and Mark Lofgren.

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Delisi is a musician with a background in theater and film production. His former band, Phenomenal Cat, blended his pop/punk sensibilities with the folk influences of his band mates. Songwriter/vocalist/bassist Lofgren is one of the founders of psychedelic pop/rock mainstays The Luck of Eden Hall, who have toured Europe and released music on a variety of independent labels, including Headspin Records and Fruits de Mer Records. In 2014 he released his solo debut, The Past Perfect.

The band is rounded out by multi-instrumentalist Darren Shepherd, keyboardist Birdie Soti, drummer Gabriel Palomo and vocalist Sophie Senard. FACEBOOK.

The new 'On Moose Island' album covers a good number of genre styles, doing so with class both musically and through the distinct and highly engaging vocals. It's one of those collections that has a consistent overall sound and yet manages to keep you guessing as to what direction they will take next. From indie rock to more folk orientated numbers, plus some psychedelic flourishes this is an album to hear in full.

Crooked Ghost - Living Hour - Love Canon - Pastis

Crooked Ghost - Sleepwalker.

Dreamy post-punk rockers Crooked Ghost have announced that their new album 'Skeleton House' will be released on CD on November 23, followed by a limited edition 12" vinyl release in February 2019. Ahead of this, the Asheville, NC outfit presents their 'Sleepwalker' single, accompanied by a video, directed by Rome Widenhouse.

"Skeleton House' is the band's sophomore long-play - a dark and hazy dreamscape of lush and angular melody, with a stark lyrical rawness touching upon such subjects as addiction, trauma, loss, superstition, and everything that gets left behind after a catastrophic event. The album consists of eight tracks, ranging from dreamy and playful to anguished and harrowing. Billowing vocal patterns weave intricate stories between shimmering guitar crescendos, cascading synths and mathematical percussion.

This album follows up their debut LP 'Strange Burial Rituals', released in March 2017. This new offering has two distinct halves: the first is lighter, the second darker. The whole thing plays out like a story, or rather, two opposite stories that are intertwined.

"The song 'Sleepwalker' was one of the first written for the new album, and everything about it just worked. The song itself is in reference to addiction and a dissolution of ones sense of self; self-medicating and numbness. I wanted to bring light to something dark, yet still tell an honest story. Something about this song has always stood out for us, says frontman Ray Clark. FACEBOOK.

If your new to Crooked Ghost then 'Sleepwalker' gives a good indication of the bands overall sound, albeit they can and are sometimes a little more moody and atmospheric and on occasion lyrically quite dark. That they are creative and often intriguing in the direction they take, adds a level of expectation for each track in this collection.

Living Hour - Bottom Step.

Winnipeg’s Living Hour recently announced its sophomore LP, Softer Faces, due out March 1 via Kanine Records. A follow-up to their highly-praised 2016 S/T debut, it features the haunting, ethereal vocals of lead singer Sam Sarty accompanied by lush, expansive instrumentation.

The band shared a first taste of their new record with hazy, hypnotic leading single “Bottom Step”, and now they’ve released a lyric video for the track. NPR says "Bottom Step" “softly but assertively navigates the feeling of rejection, accented by delicate synth and brass. The song's accompanying visuals expand upon the protagonist's yearning for solitude, as Sarty enjoys a solo swim.”

The band has announce tour dates for early 2019, including performances in Saskatoon, Calgary, Rossland, and Edmonton before heading to Austin for SXSW. Full tour dates can be found below.

Living Hour has been expanding since their humble basement beginnings in 2015. Now a quintet, rounded out by Gil Carroll (guitar), Adam Soloway (guitar, vocals), Alex Chochinov (drums, trumpet, orangelle), and Brett Ticzon (bass, vocals), Living Hour’s emotive vocals, intricate harmonies, with dreamy washes of guitar, bass, keys, and horns sees the band pulling from many genres to create their own diverse vibe that's intimate, honest, and vulnerable. Beautifully dreamy and melodic 'Bottom Step' is awash with emotion and feeling. The layers of sound slowly develop, with a feeling of calmness that comes from the refined arrangement and soothing vocals.

Love Canon - Graceland (Live with Lauren Balthrop).

Continuing to feature selected songs from their Cover Story album, Love Canon releases a live video of "Graceland." Filmed live at Eugenia Hall with the Bluegrass Situation in Nashville, Tennessee, the song features the band along with Lauren Balthrop's accompaniment vocals.

Known for their sophisticated and energetic Grass-infused covers of iconic 80’s-era pop and rock songs, the band backs the smoky vocals of Jesse Harper and Balthrop with the positive bounce of the original song but with the athletic instrumental breaks Love Canon is known for.

Lead singer and guitarist Jesse Harper says, “I have always been a fan of Paul Simon. Graceland is one of those records I have played over and over again. It’s been in heavy rotation on my stereo for at least 20 years. I love the songwriting and the musicianship. I think this tune fits with bluegrass instrumentation particularly well, and it was beyond fun getting to jam with Mike Barnett (fiddle) and Lauren Balthrop (vocals) on this tune.”

Nothing is hidden in this live take of the Paul Simon classic, which allows the nimble dynamics of Love Canon’s playing and singing to shine as it does on the album, released from from Organic Records in July of this year. SPOTIFY, Lauren Balthrop WEBSITE.

We don't often feature cover versions on Beehive Candy however this version of  'Graceland' just has to be shared. An outstanding song is given a refreshing makeover where bluegrass and dual vocals give the piece a pleasing feel, so now I have two splendid versions of a timeless song.

Pastis - Valour Valour.

'Valour Valour' is the second single of the Finnish rock n roll band 'Pastis' upcoming debut LP 'Circles' (release 8th February 2019).

It was recorded and co-produced by the award-winning producer Lauri Eloranta, and it also features trumpet virtuoso Antero Priha who has performed with the likes of Ray Charles, Carla Bley and Freddie Hubbard.

The band created great excitement with their first single 'Amazon' (released 13th June 2018) and have established themselves as one the most promising Finnish rock n roll bands to attract an international audience. FACEBOOK.

'Valour Valour' has all the quality and subtly modern musical production techniques allow for, and yet it has sixties pop and rock vibes coursing right through it. Add to that just how very catchy indeed compelling this song is and Pastis new album cannot come soon enough!

Moon Panda - Jacko Hooper - Emma Charles

Moon Panda - Gun.

Moon Panda, the moniker under which Californian songwriter Maddy Myers and Danish guitarist Gustav Moltke collaborate - have announced a brand new single 'Gun' to follow their critically acclaimed debut track 'Rabbit' released earlier in the year.

The lyrics on new track, 'Gun', outline the darker thoughts within "the capricious human mind", says Myers. 'Gun' was produced by established engineer Tom Biller who has worked on records such as Warpaint’s The Fool and Fiona Apple’s Extraordinary Machine, to Elliott Smith’s From a Basement on a Hill, and Beck’s track Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometime from the OST of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

“To help represent the ever-changing, ever-fickle human mind we used a changing time signature - the verse is in 6/8 and the chorus switches to 4/4. It's not incredibly noticeable but I think it disrupts the sway of the song a bit and switches you into a new rhythm," says songwriter Myers.

The sounds of Portishead, Men I Trust, Mitski, Beach House, and Angel Olsen have been key to the formation of Moon Panda, as well as the idea of a "big, lush forest surrounded by the cosmos, filled with giant creatures - a space jungle", which remains a intriguing, evocative image to songwriter Myers.

Animals have always been an important presence in her life, as Myers actually grew up on a ranch, "raising lambs, pigs, steer, horses, etc and I'd always bring my guitar. I definitely spent more of my youth hanging out with animals than with people." WEBSITE.

Back in July we featured 'Rabbit' by Moon Panda and the new single 'Gun' makes for a welcome and pleasing return. The distinct vocals are once again alluring and the music imaginative with plenty of creative thought clearly present.

Jacko Hooper - The Long Road.

Together We’re Lost is the third EP release from Brighton singer-songwriter Jacko Hooper. Following a year of writing and taking a step back from performing live, Jacko returns with an EP written and recorded from his bedroom with the help from life long friend and Producer, Josh Trinnaman (Whose mixing credits include Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, RY X and his own Brighton-based IDM/Jazz/Electronic outfit Luo).

With a limited edition run of CDRs being made available via Jacko’s boutique record label and promotions company Folklore Sessions, there will, as always with Hooper’s releases be an opportunity to not just stream the record digitally but get something much more personal which his devoted army of followers will enjoy once again.

Recorded off the back of Folklore Vol.1, a 4-track EP released with fellow musicians and friends Bess Atwell, George Ogilvie & Oktoba, Together We’re Lost tells a story of personifying emotions and situations that Jacko has found himself in, especially over the last year. A constant inner dialogue between his fears, anxieties and ‘logical thinking’ soon turned into words and melody that found themselves needing to be expressed, sticking with what Hooper is most well known for - true emotion and honesty. Essentially, the record covers two primary topics, loneliness and frustration. As ever Jacko’s own brutally honest experiences form the forward drive throughout, however the true purpose of his music isn’t ever his own story but the new ones created from it.

“I don’t feel that the original story of why I wrote the song is necessarily the most important thing, I think the fact people can listen to it and all of a sudden it becomes a different story with a totally different meaning is the best thing of all, to be able to connect to it people need it to be their story, not mine”, Says Jacko. With Together We’re Lost showcasing true emotion and honesty, Jacko Hopes that more stories are created for his very own. TWITTER.

A gentle folk song 'The Long Road' demonstrates that Jacko Hooper can really sing, in this case with notable sensitivity and feeling. Enriched even further by a musical arrangement that develops slowly into something quite special, my only complaint is that this track could have gone on for a whole lot longer.

Emma Charles - Comfort in The Chaos.

Just released is a new video for the Doug Schadt-produced song by up and coming singer songwriter Emma Charles. Titled “Comfort in the Chaos,” the new single is the follow up to her recent song “Far From Here” (also produced by Schadt).

The mid-tempo song pairs Charles’ soaring vocals over a sophisticatedly minimal acoustic accompaniment. Emma Charles’ striking vocal clarity and sophisticated songwriting chops pair perfectly with Schadt’s trademark dynamic production.  Schadt is best known for his work with rock pop phenom Maggie Rogers.

Emma Charles, a newly relocated resident of Los Angeles, began her career with a slew of well-received singles as Emma Charleston early on as she studied at the Berklee College of Music.  Says Atwood Magazine of her 2017 single “Volcano”: “There’s an airy warmth erupting from Emma Charleston’s ‘Volcano,’ its subtle hues and subdued musical flavors gently twisting together as the artist opens her soul and lets words and emotion spill forth.”

Emma Charles recently graduated and is now honing her image and style for a full time music career based out of LA.  She’ll continue working with Schadt on new songs in 2019 and will be embarking on a spring tour.

With a sensitive and beautifully arranged musical backdrop Emma Charles vocals have room to shine and they do that with stylish grace on 'Comfort in The Chaos'. A natural pop song that is both catchy and exudes real talent, it's paired with a refined video that does justice to the track.
